  1. I really really like this description of non e-bikes, made my day 🙂
  2. I think some races should just be organized for racing snakes, like the rest of the world, however we need more sponsors involved and it needs to be attractive for spectators ... now that is the difficult part, we cannot expect the fun riders to subsidize these events in order to make ends meet. This model was sustainable in the past but no longer. Most of the older races that had huge participation, when I now attend only makes me sad an nostalgic, yearning for the glory days ... when it was quite a big deal. Perhaps less fancy events, but serious racing be promoted, yes I know it is perhaps a little too niche, however the racing is too slow for our local riders to get a taste of racing at international level and the racing is too short to prepare any riders with bigger ambitions, specifically referring to the Junior, Elite and Masters racers. This is a catch 22 situation, and I do not see an easy solution
  3. Going back on topic, I think organizers need to consider doing smaller events more frequently, the bubble of super mass participation has burst. Smaller local racers, organized by clubs or interclub competition may be an answer to having more road cyclists participating. Oh and plowing some money back into the sport itself, not using racing events as fundraisers may also assist in nurturing competition. I am a fan of the criterium format, but that may not be everybody's cup of tea. However crits are short, fast and family friendly events. Not every race needs to be an "awesome" experience, sometimes it is just showing up and racing, like any other league racing basically. I get the feeling that these events lately do feel like league racing, since it is the same racers each weekend anyway.
  4. A top 20 for my lady racer ... racing ladies ... would be awesome, but top 30 would be excellent too. I am hoping for a good boerie and beer at the race village myself. 🙂
  5. Crit Racing involving clubs, it could also incorporate TTT's and even do a madison (wow would that not be a fun event to spectate?) the crit series that Bike Craft is hosting does not cost much, at R70 a pop with good racing, some additional coaching also in place, why not. It is short and powerful racing, the format is good for spectators and it is quite safe. We attended our first a couple of weeks ago and it was a really good experience indeed. It has difference categories for different race and fitness levels too.
  6. Jeremy is building quite a good stable of racers, both on the track and the road, I like the way he is taking the sport forward
