  1. This happened at about 11:00. During peak traffic!!
  2. G'day all, Yesterda,y a good friend of mine was attacked whilst cycling from Stellenbosch towards Bottelaryrd. The incident happened at the Khyamandi robot. Somebody put an object into his back wheel, causing him to fall over his handle bars. With a broken collarbone and still attached to his bike the robber approached him ripping his cellphone from him. He is going for an operation this morning. We wish him a speedy recovery!! Myself was attacked at the similar spot about 18mts ago. When will this ever stop???? His wife will report the incident to the police this morning(for what it is worth) Sterkte Dirk en ons sien uit na n lekker DC hierdie jaar!!
  3. Well then, thank you Zilla. So, Mr. The Driver of CL46447, you are wrong in thinking that cyclists are not allowed on the road. Safe driving,..you twat.
  4. The question is. Are we legally allowed to cycle on a tarred road without a yellow lane? If not, then me quilty, but I do make myself as visible as possible ie. strobe lights front/back.
  5. Can anybody inform me of where I can get a printed copy of the law where it state that cyclists are allowed on any road except national roads????Thank you.
  6. Tks, jy't sopas my aand gemaak.
  7. Good idea, I might just do that. Thank you.
  8. The real worry for me is that the driver had this kind of attitude towards cyclists, 10cm closer and he would have hit me!!! The thought that he might just take one of us out one day is just to scary to think about..
  9. Got mugged on a Sunday morning(a few months ago) inbound to Stellenbosch at 10:10, still scared to cycle that way!!!
  10. I was forced of the road Sturday morning by a driver in a blue 3series BMW reg. CL46447, on my way back home between Simonsig and the railway, Cape Town. A quiet tarred road leading towards Bottelary road, but with no yellow shoulder. I instantly gave the driver the 'bird' and he kindly returned it in his rear view mirror, he then pulled off and we got into an argument. He saying that we(cyclists) don't belong on the road and me saying, we have all the right to be there...He also admitted in the heat of the moment that he almost knocked over 2 other cyclist on the same road and that he wants to put a sticker in his back window saying, F..the cyclists. I reported this incident to the police, but were told because there were no injuries or damage I am basically wasting my time, they did however gave me the address of the owner of the BMW, Die Rand, Dan Pienaarstraat, Stellenbosch. Any suggestions of what to do????
  11. That was probably me warning everybody on my way back home, hope you all got safe back home!!
  12. Tks all, Ja, I guess the answer is to cycle in big groups with a back-up vehicle if possible. What a pitty!!!! Regards!
  13. Hi All, I got mugged from my bike just before Stellenbosch opposite Kayamandi cycling towards Helshoogte. This happened at 08:40 Sunday morning, jip in daylight on a busy road with lots of other motorists and cyclist!! The plot was that there were about 4or5 of them black long skinny males, dressed in sweaters and caps, spaced about 20m apeart. The first bastart let me passed him then the next 2 together grabbed at me with the following bastasrt 20m further down the road. Luckily for me they only got me by the back of my shirt, ripping of the back pockets and getting away with my pump, sweets and home remote contorl(cell phone stayed with me in the remaing pocket). I immediately tried to get the attention of a bypassing motorist who wasnt interested in stopping, thereafter I ran towards the remote police station, with also not much of any urgency to try and spot the bastards. I urge all cyclist to be extra carefull when cycling past this spot as these events now start happening in regular intervills. If something looks suspisious, it probebly is!!! Safe cycling Vesrkoon my engels:)
