  1. I've also been offered a really low price before by bikemarket so I can agree these offers are really annoying. But these guys have to make a profit somehow, as even though they might not replace stuff, they have to courier it to their business, and service the bike and check it thoroughly. And they have to run a shop and pay wages. I bought a bike from bikemarket and don't regret it as the bike has never given me issues, plus I got it for a good price.
  2. Agree 100%. I'm also 16, and the way I see it, e-bikes are only for really old people or those with injuries. If you're young, do real cycling and experience all that pain and glory and get fit.
  3. Yes it does start and finish there but the description says it to be a little more challenging than gravel roads
  4. Does anyone know what the Attakwas Half is like? I know its also probably pretty brutal but how technical is the route?
  5. Yeah that's important. Doesn't help that my afrikaans isn't so good😂
  6. Yesth Yes, I was planning on working it like that. I was going to get permission from all the landowners and just hope no one says no😅
  7. Thanks that would be nice! Do you know the route quite well? I only know the route thats around Ladismith but as far as I know, although much of the route is damaged and unrideable, there are some sections which are still good. The idea would be to ride the route when possible and ride the roads when not. Seeing as there's no good road between Tous Rivier and Ladismith the idea would be to start and finish in Ladismith in the beggining, and then later maybe from Touws Rivier to Ladismith.
  8. I didn't actually know about her. I'd heard of Makadas Adventures but didn't know who or what it was. I did hear somebody else tried it a few years back though, but it didn't get off the ground. Thanks for the tip!
  9. It would be a mix of gravel and singletrack, mostly singletrack probably. My hopes are that it would get quite big someday and become a well known race. I think seeing as the route would have a lot of history it would be quite popular.
  10. But as regards expenses, would your sponsors cover everything? And how would you get an event organizer like dryland or something on board? Also, would having an organizer on board make the legal clearances easier?
  11. I've never ridden it. I've ridden the roads alongside and small sections, but parts are overgrown and there are washaways too. The route would need some repairs first and I was planning to take it on the roads at bad areas. And the land is no longer owned by Transnet. It's been decommissioned and is owned by whoever owns the farm it crosses. I heard somebody else tried to do the same thing once but there were unwilling landowners. I thought I could try again and also bypass farms using the roads.
  12. The idea i have is to make a race along the old makadas railway line between Laingsburg and ladismith in th Klein Karoo. If you did the whole line it would have to be a 2 day stage race but i was thinking to start a 1 day would be best.
  13. So I've been thinking of starting an event in my area for a while and I'm just curious as to how it would get started. Would I first have to plan everything then ask an event organizer to organize it, or do I ask them first? How would they make their money? How would you get sponsors involved? If anyone has any feedback I'd really appreciate it.
  14. I'd say get a good second hand bike. Save yourself the headache of a cheap bike and parts replacement and just get a good one. You'll enjoy your ride more too.
  15. Rather go with the signal. It's got the best specs but if its too pricey then take the Momsen over the titan. And yes, air forks are 100% worth it!
