  3. thanks for all the feedback and suggestions guys. It has been most helpful.
  4. Excellent. So, as I am also, as you say: festively plump, recommended is 30t with possibility of changing up to 32t when feeling better at it. Also not too much an yster for these mountains but we will get there. Shot for info
  5. And what would be the best all round ratio? 32t front and 11-42 cassette?
  6. I will have a look at that. Did you not have to change your rear derailleur? and is there a compromise on speed/granny?
  7. Howzit. I have been looking at doing this conversion for a while now. I have a Merida Big99 XT-M Is there a reputable bike shop around Cape Town who can do a decent job? Would I have to change my rear hub for the conversion? Running Mavic Cross Ride atm with 3 - 10
  8. Thanks for the heads up guys. Seems Stoke are the guys for the job then.... unanimously...
  9. Howzit My rear shock is making some funny noises and sounds like there is no air pressure but is 5Bar + Is there a reputable spot I can take it to in Cape Town for a checkup and /or service? Cheers
  10. I am looking at replacing my seatpost on my MTB with a dropper post. However, I sit with the problem of where should I buy one and which one is the better of the lot? RockShox Reverb, Reverb Stealth, CrankBrothers, Thomson Elite???? Anyone have an idea or some sound advice on this or whether I should rather not get a dropper post....?
