  1. Thanks, any idea when they might get stock of the 26? And around how much do they cost?
  2. Thanks, will try that. Maybe I will replace the fork, but I'd rather not. I'm not too fussed about the lock out not working, more so the fact that something on the bike isn't working. So the cartridge may need replacing? And would replacing the cartridge also fix the oil/fluid spilling onto the stanchions?
  3. Hi, I added that in an edit, thanks for the info but it didn't work :_) The fork doesn't lock out at all even using the hex wrench
  4. Hi, as described by the title, the fork isn't locking out. The blue switch doesn't do anything. I can compress the fork a fair bit even in the "locked" position, about the same if not exactly the same as when the fork is in the "open" position. I notice there is some oil/fluid on the stanchions, not sure what it means but I think it points towards the problem? I've already tried to tighten the thing under the lockout switch with the 4mm Allan key but to no avail, the problem persists. The bike belonged to a friend of mine and he said that he hasn't used the bike in a while, he also said that it had never been services but he didn't use it too much in the first place, the stock tyres don't have much wear on them. I'm not too experienced in DIY ,with forks especially, but I wouldn't mind trying things out. Although depending on how much work/complicated it is I may just leave it or take it to the bike shop :p Any and all tips are very appreciated Thank You!
  5. Ah ok, thanks for the info. Will probably get a bottle when I go pick up my bike tomorrow then
  6. Didn't have lube and my dad said Q20 will work so eh, he put on the q20 and it solved the problem🤷‍♂️
  7. Thanks, yeah I was think a trip to the bike shop will be good. Get some spokes too lol
  8. Yeah, I thought so too as it was making a cracking sound when I peddled with a lot of force, but after some Q20 it was riding really nicely
  9. Hi, was riding along a really holey pavement fairly quickly and in one of the deeper holes I heard my chain make some bad crunching noises. After that the chain was crunching really badly every so often, so I went to the highest and lowest gear and that took out the bad crunching sounds, I was just left with a bit of a rattle(I see that the chain is not on one of the jockey gears properly) and I cant shift below gear 5. I see that the derailleur is very skew, but I'm not too sure if it's the jockey or the derailleur hanger. Any advice on what the problem is? Then I can know if I need to get a new hanger or jockey. (First pic is taken just after getting home after riding, next pictures are during/after my little teardown) Thanks
  10. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the feedback. I think I'm going to take it to a shop, get a quote and then see what I could maybe do myself, see if its worth and then go from there. I'll probably end up buying a bike sometime soon. If I'm looking for a bike at less than R3k 2nd hand, what should I be looking for? (R3k should be good for a decent starter bike right?)
  11. Oh cool. How would I go about fixing it though?
  12. Im in Cape Town, Southern suburbs
  13. Thank you very much for your input, I greatly appreciate it! What would you say would be the most important parts are to restore/replace on this bike?
  14. Yeah, definitely going to keep this one What would be the best way to go about restoring though? Should I maybe take it to a shop to get help/recommendations on what to do?
  15. Okay, thanks for the quick response. Any recommendations for a new bike/what to look for on a new bike if I want something that rides like this? I assume maybe something like a 27inch XL or something like that? I'm, not too sure though
  16. Hi, bike newbie here 😊 Could anyone please advise if I should repair/restore this bike or if I should get another bike instead. This one still rides but I would not want to do anything more than a few km on it at a time. My neighbour gave it to me a few years ago, but I was too short to ride it comfortably. Now I have grown and want to get into cycling and I really enjoy the feel of this bike, for the most part. It has some problems such as the back brakes not working and the front brakes barely resetting after engaging, and there is also a scraping sort of sound coming from the back wheel while I’m riding it. Its super rusty and some parts are broken. So if I should restore it what are the parts that I need to buy? New chain, new brakes etc. (what specific type though) any advice would be appreciated. I will be happy to provide more photos if need be. Also if I were to buy a new bike, 2nd hand would be a lot better suited and what should I be looking for? 185cm Male, wants a kind of all rounder type bike(or what ever this one is) Thank you
