  1. Hi Domestique Please note we at Action Cameras SA are the specialist retailers not the distributors. If there's any way we could help please send your emails to sales@actioncameras.co.za
  2. Sorry I didn't mention that the 10th of December delivery would be in America only!! Makes sense to purchase in South Africa!
  3. Hi Awsme, Just to confirm no one in South Africa will have stock till late December. If you even try order through GoPro.com they out of stock. Estimated delivery would only take place around the 10th December. Always a good idea to purchase in South Africa for warranty issues. Thanks You welcome to send questions through to us david@actioncameras.co.za
  4. Hi Ulitmate Hubber, The late arrival of the Silver Editions has been on the backhand of the ICASA approval. GoPro South Africa have been working night and day to get the Hero Silvers available. The Hero silvers are finally available. You welcome to contact us to order
  5. Hi Awesme, Unfortunately with the limited amount of stock arriving in South Africa we can't offer any discount on the Hero 3's. Here was an email that was sent out to our pre-order customers regarding the Hero 3 Black Edition: Afternoon, I trust this email finds you well, Just some feedback with regards to the Hero 3 Black Edition pre-orders. It was first initially announced by GoPro South Africa that stock would be arriving in South Africa early December and pending ICASA approval they would be available for retail by the 10th of December. We've just heard news that stock will only be arriving late December due to production issues in the US. We at Action Cameras SA sincerely apologize for this. We understand you highly anticipating the arrival of your new camera but please bear in mind the arrival of the South African stock is totally beyond our control. As soon as we have more news on the South African arrival date we'll send out a mail and keep you posted. If you have any questions please send them my way. Thank you Kind Regards If you would like to be a part of this list please email us at sales@actioncameras.co.za
  6. Hi, Just to note we've had one customer who purchased oversees, once the camera went through customs, delivery costs etc he ended up paying R200 more than the South African retail price. I can assure you the South African market isn't taking advantage at all. Check out our website www.actioncameras.co.za for more information.
  7. Check the Hero 3 video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3PDXmYoF5U http://www.actioncam...pro_hero-3.html
  8. The GoPro HD Hero 3 has been announced but all the details are being released soon. Here's what we know so far: The new GoPro Hero 3 is 30% smaller in size, has a processor twice as fast, shoots in 4K HD video (cinema quality), and comes with the WiFi already built in! Read more here: http://www.actioncam...pro_hero-3.html What do you think? You like? Keep an eye on our facebook page for info as its released! http://www.facebook.com/ActionCamerasSA
  9. It's really interesting to see what's been used and how everyone rates each camera. We've tested them all and the ones on www.actioncameras.co.za all come with our stamp of approval as being the beez knees! Worldwide, GoPro, Drift and Contour have always stood out as the best and for good reason. Great products with fantastic quality. There's a lot of other cameras out there (some have impressed us) but these are the best. There's an interesting one which just got announced by JVC which is excellent except for the battery life being 45mins We have all these cams and every accessory you can think of in stock - including the WiFi BacPac for the GoPro. Will keep an eye on this thread to see if there's any questions posted that we can help out with. (Trying not to hijack the thread as a seller - just adding our 2cents worth) PS: #Francois Marais please send us that Drift remote so we can replace it for you. Cheers Warrick
  10. I agree that having it on your head isn't the best 'cos of the weight (and catching branches) but this will give you the smoothest video as your neck and shoulders absorb most of the vibrations. Use the Vented Helmet Mount which comes as part of the Outdoor Edition or available as an accessory for R140. The Ride Hero Seatpost Mount is a great accessory to get creative shots from your seatpost, bike frame or handlebars. You'll see a lot more vibrations on this mount but it allows you to get some really great shots to edit into your video. (R185) The Chesty chest harness also gives a cool shot but it's not something we use too often 'cos (as mentioned before) it can be tricky to film the right angle. With that said, it also gives an awesome angle for editing into a video; a lot of viewers feel that the Chesty point of view seems more real then helmet mounted. If you want to get a real unique shot then use the Front Mount which comes off the front of your helmet and turns back onto your face. Your face stays perfectly still in the shot but the trail moves around like crazy in the back ground. Lots of cool options!

  12. Hey, You can do all the basic editing on the software already available on your PC (Windows Movie Maker or iMovie) or if you would like to do more professional editing then you can purchase a program like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier. Here at Action Cameras we do our editing on Windows Movie Maker and learnt to use it by watching a few tutorials on YouTube. It really does allow you to do all the stuff you'll probably want to do with your video. One thing to keep in mind is that you will need a fairly new computer to do any editing on, preferably with a minimum of 2Gbs of ram available for speedy playback and editing of videos - especially the HD videos produced by your GoPro. Good luck!
  13. I was also at the ride on Sunday and was very surprised to hear them announce that helmet cams were not allowed! It seems that this isn't a new rule but just hasn't been fully enforced since it was announced in 2009. It seems to be up to the discretion of the event organizers rather then a steadfast rule. Personally I reckon the cameras help to promote the events and the sport. How awesome is it for an event that people can go post in-action photos and videos on facebook to show off to their mates - this is terrific viral marketing for the events. I do agree though that playing with your camera during a race can cause you to loose focus but then there are cameras available which can run the length of an event or other cameras which can be operated by a remote on your wrist or handlebar. There's more info on this at the blog - http://actioncameras.blogspot.com/
