  1. Hi all Im having problems with my Sigma speedo, it picks up the speed and distance fine for a couple km's then nothing!!! Could this be the magnet/sensor or shud I do a battery change? I dont think its a battery because its works 100% (for a while) and the display is perfect. Any suggestions?
  2. Ive been looking at gramin prices and they a bit steep:( The stigma unit does not have HR feature thats why I thought it shudnt be a problem, but after speaking to the sportsmans sales person (who didnt have a clue!!) he came to the conclusion that the unit is faulty. Maybe I should just get another CS300 and get them to fit it for me!
  3. Needing advice please Im in need of a new cycling computer, bought the polar cs300 but when I got home it didnt work:( so took it back and got my money back. Now i dont know what else to look at in that price range R1800 - R2000. It would be really nice to have a HR monitor, speed and cadence sensor all in one and wireless Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated, Im going to look at what you guys recommend this afternoon!!
  4. Im not doudting that but if I buy something and out of the box it doesnt work I dont go back to that product, just me!! I always heard such good things about the polar range and have been dissapointed with my purchase.
  5. so after all the frustrations last night of trying to get the damn thing working, I took it into sportsmans warehouse this morning only for them to tell me it is faulty!!!! so damn irritating that you spend soo much cash on something and when you get home to start using it it doesnt freaking work!!!!!! So now i need some advice please fellow hubbers, what can you people recommend that has similar or better features than the Polar CS300 in a similar price range R1800 - R2000. Got a long ride tomorrow morning and need a new unit by then
  6. nope i bought it new! i put the magnet and sensor as close together as i possibly could +- 3mm so i dont know. Im going to take the sigma unit off anyway and see as to what happens
  7. Thanx JanMTB I just asked the wife to check if the polar watch unit picks up speed and all that while riding and she says it doesnt pick anything up yet it did pick her heart rate up. Does that mean the other unit is causing interferance?
  8. Hi all I bought the polar cs300 heart rate monitor, speedometer and cadence sensor. My question is can I run that and my other sigma speedometer at the same time? Ive heard differing stories, some say its fine because the sigma is a wired unit and the Polar is wireless and others say the wired one will work but the wireless polar unit wont. Ive got the sensors on the bike but havent tested it out yet (was too late last night So should I take the old sigma unit off and replace it with the Polar one?
  9. THE SHOP IS RECYCLE SPORTS IN CHARLO!! You get very very good service from them and he has extremely good prices. My shop of choice, been too a couple other places and they want to push the most expensive items to a newbie cyclist whereas Mark just wants to help and get you enjoying cycling!!
  10. After that Ill definately stick with them, I was well surprised that he admitted his mistake, apologised and got down to fixing it up!! That doesnt happen all that often anymore.
  11. So everything turned out good!! I told him the speedo wasnt working he had a look and said "i know the problem and i thinks its my fault" he removed the wire from the clamp and sed if it gives me anymore problems he will replace the unit!! I was very surprised and then spent a couple hundred rand in the shop So I guess Im sticking with that shop
  12. I hear what you saying and think that is exactly what im going to be doing!! Lets see as to what he ahs to say later but im going to stand my ground and hopefully there will be a good outcome. Legs are hurting so I might look like a douchebag walking into the shop:)
  13. Thanx guys Im going to take it back later this afternoon and see as to what he has to say. I know it was probably an honest mistake but it is soo dissapointing when something isn't working after you know it was in 100% working order.
  14. I dont know if this is in the right section but I want to know what I should do? Firstly im new here and new to cycling, got myself a scott roadbike and all the necessary equipment. I took it into a shop on Monday for a service and to get it setup properly for myself. Initially i was very impressed with everything and felt confident for my ride this morning only to find that my sigma speedo was no longer working (it was working on Monday morning as I went for a ride and it recorded everything)!! After inspecting all wires and what not after the ride I discovered that the wire has now been clamped under the handlebar clamp I havent adjusted my handlebars so it could only have happened during the service/setup of the bicycle. Do I have a leg to stand on if i take the bike back to speak to the guy? It wasnt a cheap speedometer and dont feel as tho I should buy a new unit when I didnt damage/break it! What should I do people?
