  1. yes i already have one. problem is that when i'm on the racer no one can stay with me in the mountain so i need a heavy mtb to slow me down
  2. yes did look at the silverback dakota, but sort of ruled it out. Any place in Cape Town that will give you a bike for a weekend to test, like a demo?
  3. Ok I?m looking to buy a mountain bike. Did look as 2nd hand but could not find something decent so now I?m shopping for a new bike. At the moment I have 4 options, ranking from my favourite to least favourite: 1. Merida TSF 500D<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 2. Merida SUB 60D 3. Giant Alais 4. Shwinn Moab What do you guys think of the 4 bikes and what would you get giving the choice between those four? I?m also very keen on Scott so if you know of good options in the same ?class?please let me know. Thanks guys Lihan
  4. Hey Slowbee, We are in the same boat. I will keep i close eye on the replies
  5. Hey guys, thanks so much for all the replies. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Budget is around 3 - 4k so hopefully i can find something to see if i really like it and then i can always upgrade. Have been looking at gumtree but buying from there you will never know what you will get especially with my knowledge of mountain bikes. O yes the avatar, ??? i have no idea myself was one of the silly option on the drop down box when registering
  6. Hi Guys, Just joined your forum and is looking forward to the discussions and tips on the site. Posting this as a hello and please help topic?? I?m currently only a road rider, cycling in the summer months and then relaxing during winter. I?m going to try and change that by taking up mountain biking during the coming winter. I would appreciate any help and comments on the following: <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 1. What bike should I be looking at for starting out? I can always buy a better bike after a year or two if I really enjoy it. 2. What should I avoid, which bike make model have a bad reputation out there for what so ever reason? 3. Where can I shop for a good 2nd hand bike? Thanks guys, looking forward to meet some of you on some of your rides. Cheers Lihan lihan2008-03-13 01:40:17
