  1. Great stuff man! You got a good deal as well hey! I almost went for the 2012 Karakoram, but I think the green is a more unusual colour for a bike... Your bike looks sweet! Jared
  2. Good stuff! You will not regret it man.
  3. Well it seems the Scott has slightly lower spec fork, shifters, rear derailleur and brakes. Price seems to be a bit more than the GT as well, not sure how it rides though to be honest. The GT is really an incredible bike for the price you pay for it. So easy to ride, I'm totally comfortable on it with the 29er wheels after only one proper off road ride, which is pretty impressive if you ask me.
  4. Do it man haha... you will NOT regret it...
  5. I did get my discount yes... Got some new gloves and glasses as well as a Sigma computer too and some bar ends and changed the stock saddle last night... Went for a 21km ride today in the Groenkloof Nature Reserve... My first time there and man... All I can say is this bike is flipping amazing! Handles single track like a 26er, rolls downhill like a tank and climbs super fast... I'm in love haha!! And all this with my shock at a ridiculously low pressure (need to get a shock pump lol!) Here is how she looks:
  6. Bought my bike today... Couldn't be happier!! Rolls like a dream on the flat stuff, climbs well after getting the larger wheels going, handles pretty good as well. Definitely a great bike for the price!!
  7. I like the colour scheme for the plain fact that it is unusual to say the least haha! What was the reason for changing the saddle and seat post if I may ask?
  8. Hi there, I saw mine at Bester Cycles in Waterkloof, Pretoria for R7995. I think that is a reasonable price and they said I can get 5% discount if I do an EFT or pay cash. I think I might buy it, but only if I can get my current bike sold though. I am hoping to get back into half marathon racing again and I have heard a few good things with regards to the 29er setup. It seems like a decent bike for the price?
  9. Hi All, New hubber here, looks the place to be to get solid info from, stoked I came across this place haha! I am planning on buying a 2011 GT Karakoram 1.0 and was hoping to gather some feedback from guys who already own the bike on what it is like to ride, what needs to be changed eg groupset, cranks etc and whether they think it is value for money. Been riding a Raleigh RM9.0 for 5 years and think it is time to upgrade now and the GT jumped out at me in the store, just unsure of the whole 29er thing (don't have any experience with it at all) so any feedback and tips would be hugely appreciated... Thanks Jared
