  1. Thanks!
  2. Rocket Rons...That's the ones.
  3. Hi, How do I know whether the tyres I have can be converted to tubeless? I currently have Racing Rons which come standard on the Scott Spark 940 & I want to convert to tubeless. If I do need to buy new tyres what are the suggestions/favourites? Thanks,
  4. Thanks! I'm nowhere near KOM status yet so no worries about that.
  5. Hi, I'm using the Strava app on my iPhone & loving it. I use the app as I don't have a Garmin GPS bike computer. Does anyone know if it is heavy on data usage or how does it work? Thanks,

    Bike sizes

Hi, I'm in the market for my second bike & I'm planning on getting a dual suspension 29er. My current 26er is a large but one shop says I should go XL after they measured me the other says stay L after they measured me too especially because you don't want a too big 29er. What is the formula for working out sizes. I'm 187cm tall & my inner leg is 87.5cm. Thanks.
  9. Pity the Anthem X1 does not look great in yellow, white & black. What about the Merida One-Twenty 3000? Or Trek Superfly 100?
  10. Hi, I'm also looking for a dual suspension 29er in the R20 - 25k mark new. So far the Scott Spark 940 is leading the way, any other suggestions in this range? Thanks, Jeff
  11. Hi, I lost 2 identical keys on a key ring at Van Gaalens on Sat 7/7 either in the parking lot or in the shop. If anyone found them please PM me. I have called Van Gaalens but with no luck. Thanks,
  12. Hi, Does anyone have suggestions on who to use to transport your bike from Jhb to the Argus & back. Can you also please give me rates & contact details. Thanks!

    MTB shoes

Thanks! I also have broad feet with collapsed arches therefore I use special inserts. Finding shoes is not always easy as sizes range for me depending on the brand. I'm usually an 11 though.
  14. Thanks! Do you know of anyone who rebuilds wheels in Jhb?
  15. Hi, Anyone know of a good place to get MTBing shoes that don cost a fortune? There are so many brands that I've never heard of & I'm not looking to spend much more than R1k. Most shops take pride in their bike displays & the amount of bikes they have but when it comes to shoes stock looks limited, unorganised & the boxes look like they've been there for 10 years. Even Cycle Lab Fourways has a limited choice. Thanks, Jeff
  16. Hi, In the last year or so I must have broken 3 or 4 back wheel spokes on my MTB. It is not as a result of falls but just seem to happen. Can anyone tell me why? Someone mentioned that it may be fatigue as I've been riding the same bike for almost 5 years now. Should I get an entire new wheel instead of having the spokes replaced every time? Thanks, Jeff
  17. Does anyone know how many meters were climbed over the 20km route?
  18. Hi all, Any opinions on the above mentioned trainer or any other recommendations? Not looking to break the bank to buy the best. This trainer costs R1500 at Sportsmans so if there is something better for cheaper please let me know. Thanks,

    Race license

    So no answer....
  20. What is the point of a license? Is it to give you a seeding? What happens if you don't join a club?
  21. Thanks. Why does this happen though when there is no disk in place?
  22. When I took off my front wheel I pulled the front brakes by accident and they locked as there was no wheel in place. I took my bike to my local bike shop and they sorted it out. Then while packing up after the Lost City race yesterday like an idiot I did it again How can I fix it myself without damaging the brakes and can someone please explain the physics to me why this happens i.e. why the brakes lock when there is no wheel in place?
  23. I used a bomb for the first time to pump up a tire and I was disappointed in the outcome. I'd like to know whether I was doing something wrong and what other riders experiences are. The tube was being blown up very slowly when I thought it was supposed to be fast. I also got a massive blister on my finger from the cold gas which "burnt" me or gave me a taste of frost bite. The cycle shop from which I bought the attachment and gas canisters from said it was the make that most mountain bikers use but I don't know anymore. Did I do something wrong?
