Ok yes there are lots of other threads but this one is mine mine mine. The last I rode was 10-12 years ago after high school. I used to have a Haro Escape MTB no suspension, cantilever breaks, steel frame, nasty but good and it was bought from a bicycle shop. Still have it somewhere, modded and rebuilt it for fun so many times back then. Never entered any races but used to love to tour the city for fun, sans helmet. Now I want to get back into it, looking at something to start out with. Don't want to spend more than 3K. If I get into it then later I will get me one of those fancy things. For now I want something that will give me good entry level service. I see disc brakes are now affordable and common place and front suspension is the norm. With that in mind I have looked at the Avalance ATX 250 and Avalanche ATX375 I have also looked at the new Axis A90 and A70. The avalanches look good but the ones at Sportsmans Warehouse have some flimsy looking rims (Hengpeng or something on them) What would you choose? I have looked online and I like the Scott Aspect 60 but can't seem to find that model in stores??? I defnitely want front suspension ( the sore wrists from those jumps just haunt me) but disc breaks is it really worth the extra weight I see.
