  1. Back in my racing days I rode a few bikes but the best bike ever was my Battaglin. Should never have sold it when I stopped riding.
  2. Is anyone out there looking for a partner for the 2 man team Desert Dash in December?
  3. Thank You guys, appreciate it.
  4. Hello okes, I have recently seen a few guys riding with cool "sleeveless" jackets, a very good idea for this time of the year. Any ideas where I can obtain one of these, and are they like warm wintery jackets or more just windbreaker type ones. Thanks
  5. Thanks everybody, appreciate your time and comments.
  6. Thats always the tricky one, Emirates is fantastic and the 30kg limit is great, but the 4 hour layover in Dubai is a grind cos you usually land there at like 4 in the morning so there's not much happening. Flying direct by SAA or BA is cool and although the fares are similar the extra 7kg on Emirates certainly helps. Never thought of letting the bike shop pack the bike - thanks for the tip.
  7. I need some advise from some of you okes who have done this before. I will be travelling to London shortly and plan to take the MTB with me. Will a standard race bag be sufficient for transportation on the plane or would a bike box be a better option. Thanks
  8. Sorry Oom
  9. Any chance boet, down to the river with the fly rod - late afternoon/evening waist deep in the river - you cant beat it
  10. Look I know the Atos is a "lill" car but the bike will definitely fit on the roof (front wheel off) - I used to put it on the roof of my mini - and thats the old mini 1000 - AND the bonus was the mini was so low I never drove under anything that came close to the bike - Atos maybe a different story
  11. Ha good point. Thanks Josh, saw a few on rack and carrys website, waiting for the quotations. Much appreciated okes....
  12. Ok so I am tired of taking the wheels off and putting the bike on the back seat of my Hyudai Atos, its time for a roof rack. Any suggestions as to what make or model would be very helpful. Thank You
  13. I hate you more...do you take weekend visitors??
  14. Everything has become too technical, I raced in the era of Greg Lemond and Stephen Roche. Real men, real cyclists. No heart rate monitors or power cranks. Strongest rider wins.
  15. Years ago when we were racing seriously and heart rate monitors first made their appearance (showing my age here) I had an interesting incident. We used to ride in a group of a few okes and regularly did a hard ride up Fishers Hill in Germiston. One of the chaps who was really one of the strongest in the group and regularly blew our legs and minds over the top of the hill acquired a heart rate monitor. First ride over Fishers Hill he bombs out the back. We waited for him on the other side and asked what happened to which he replies that he was close to max on his monitor so he was obviously riding too hard - had to back off a bit. That was when I decided to never use one - EVER. If you start riding according to what your monitor tells you and lose the ability to know in your head and legs how close you are to blowing - might as well take up jukskei. Funny - he never was the same rider after that. Sad really.....
