  1. +27 64 837 4845 I am sure he changes frequently. All 3 ads already down
  2. Same scammer almost caught me on Gumtree now with a Sram GX kit he advertised for R3000. It was like Deja Vu and I recognized his voice. Obviously different name and number - he is “Victor McDonald” now. Question is, how do these guys get away but they have real bank details?
  3. Thanks, my wife would love one like that if I could find onevat that price...
  4. He is definitely very convincing. A clever oke, surely he can put the energy into something productive.
  5. Hi guys, almost got scammed now. I posted about a Scott Spark in Buyers Guide. This guy with username ahulley responded on the thread stating that he has a Scott Spark 920 he wants to sell at a good price. I whatsapped him, then he sent pics. Pics turned out to be from another Facebook ad, but he almost caught me. His Bikehub profile is now deleted. People are desperate and struggling with the Covid fallout. I had a long chat with “Andrew” over the phone, he lost his job and many other things. If you read this, please dont try the same thing again on Bikehub or anywhere else. I pray that some other door will rather open for you to make a honest buck...
  6. Thanks...all the bikes seem so overpriced due to the shortage...
  7. I can also get a brand new 2018 Spark 940 with GX 1x12 for R44500... decisions decisions...
  8. Thanks! My wife likes the Spark. Probably does not help that I am on a Spark 910 myself..
  9. Looking for a small Scott Spark for my wife, the 2017 and newer type frame. They seem to be hens teeth - any suggestions? I can get a brand new old stock 2017 Spark 920 for R48 500 at a local shop, so far that seems to be the best deal. They already changed the stock XT 2x11 drivetrain to NX 1x12. Any suggestions?
  10. Thanks for all the replies so far.
  11. I bought a 2009 Cannondale F3 Caffeinne on an impulse. The bike is virtually new, but I am a bit worried about the Headshok DLR80 maintenance issues and spares availability going forward. Anybody with experience? How would maintenance costs on the headshok compare to say a Rockshox Recon?
  12. Do I absolutely have to use new tyres when doing the ghetto tubeless convertion?
  13. Hi Gents My little girl is 8 months old and we want to take her cycling with us. I have a Giant carrier, but she is still a bit small for this. I looked at the Riksha bike trailer (http://www.riksha.co.za/) and was quite impressed. I can get one for R3400. Looks quite stable and safe. Only downside is that we wont be able to do any single tracks, only road riding or farmtracks. Anyone with experience using a Riksha or similar?
  14. Wow, I am amazed at some of the posts made and the level of aggression. Not the way to respond to the OP - you guys only managed to escalate everything.
  15. will a Deore crank with chainrings from a 9 spd bike work on a bike with a 10 spd drivetrain?
  16. I work in Rosslyn during the day and need a cycling shop which is close is enough for me to visit during lunch hour. Any suggestions?
  17. Yes, 2013. I bought mine from Trinity Cycles in Hartbeespoort for R9350 with entry level external bb crank fitted extra. Hotspot cycles in Pta quoted me R9k for the same bike. Dont know about shops in Cape Town, but sure you should get same prices if you shop around.
  18. Merida has better forks and drivetrain, but GT does not seem bad for the price.
  19. Shop around some more, the Merida can be had for about R9000. I bought one, very chuffed so far. It has the same wheels and many other parts as the more expensive models in the range.
  20. Rather go for the 2013 big9 tfs500. The rockshox is better than the suntour and Hotspot cycles quoted me R9000 last week and eventually I bought one from Trinity cycles for R9350 with an external bb crank included. worth the extra over the R8500 for the 2012 model.I have done only a few km's with mine, but it seems fine so far. Not a lightweight (+/- 12.8 kg) but it is probably the best buy at the price if you want a 29er.
  21. Your specs look like the 2012 model if you remove the Deore crank. Are you looking to buy new? Then you will be looking at the 2013 model. Good specs for the price, you can pick them up for R9000-R9350 if you shop around.
  22. Hi Jason. I stay in Harties (schoemansville). Planning to start riding again later this week when I take delivery of my bike. Also not very fit, want to slowly work my way up again. Where are you based?
