  1. I think only 3 or 4 guys were lined up for +1 so they started with scratch anyways...so no +1 yesterday as far as I know. Yesterday was fun, slower than last week , but then again we didnt have ANY wind last week.
  2. Colonel, only 2 of your guys rode yesterday. What's up with that? Everyone got the flu? Fatty was looking much better than last week...with cyclocross tyres and all!
  3. Colonel - no, I just spend less time in bed feeling sick and I've always got an ear to the ground on what's happening in cycling around us. Ronelle, I think the Edge brand was taken over by Willie E's shop and whoever was the contact on that one. I actually know a bit more than what I'm saying here , but some of it might be a bit sensitive so let's leave it at that. Peter was showing off the Pearl brand at the Argus Expo. Colonel didnt see that cause he was looking at himself in the mirror and trying to find the "cocktail" stand
  4. I think this is Peter Wheeler's own "brand" name. Not sure who makes the frame though...
  5. It was like everyone did scratch anyway. +1 was caught after about 2 laps because they were all looking at each other and no one wanted to do any grinding upfront. I think at one stage +1 was doing 32kn/h.... O yes and the handicap was changed by scratch going off first taking the long route and as they took the bottom corner +1 left and started with the shorter corner. Ended up being nice big group, lekker racing as well.
  6. BMC - November, December or maybe with a bit of luck only January....then I can do the Spring league this side and catch some last minute sun before going slap-bang into winter in Netherlands. Our ship is in the disconneting process at teh moment and it is quite an excercise to say the least so not exactly sure of dates as yet. ...I think Willehond and I are almost same age! By the sounds of it the level of rider is so hectic over there that I'll have to join an "ou ballie" squad!
  7. Geez, big hash for IDT's! I think I'll stick to the one I have and when in Europe I'll see if I can pick up a VR on sale somewhere These things are so outdated here, they propably go on 50% sale in Europe....or will when I get there!
  8. Check out http://www.racermateinc.com/computrainer.asp Computrainer. Very nice, about R20K in SA!
  9. Willehond! Hang 5 before you buy. My buddy in Australia has an awesome indoor VR trainer and it can do really serious climbs (he trains Alpe Duez on it)and race simulations. Let me find out what he's got and if it is available in NDL which I'm sure it is. By the way, Taxc factory is about 3 blocks away from the office where I'll be working from in NDL! Wonder if they sell directly to public Zombie2008-08-27 02:12:28
  10. I dont have the VR Tacx but the Tacx Flow power gel works great for me. I use Chasek DVD's to ride certain routes in SA or also the Chris Carmichael training (spinning) DVD's which are really good. If just rolling I watch race DVD's or something. I'm not sure if mine is upgradeble to the VR models, but I think the trainer you tested (BMC fan's) might have been incorrectly callibrated. Reason being that when I do level 7-9 climbs on my Taxc Flow I crap myself and it is definatley not easy at all. If the unit is correctly callibrated level 9 (which is the top level) should be equivalent to something like Vissershok which I find it is. I normally do only 1hr on this trainer as my legs start screaming for mercy on 45min already. Mine is callibrated on 0 exactly, took a while but got it right! It also gives all the other goodies like wattage , HR, etc, etc. I think the first level up where you can customize to VR is the same except for the VR part of it which just means more cables....
