    How technical is the race? It sounds quite straight forward, will have sand?

    What is the distance and ascent for the marathon? I thought route will be better due to no rain yet, what do you mean dave303? Any idea how this compares to Van gaalen or Clarens marathon?

    My experience from doing my 1st last year: Stage 2 is very tough! I expected it on 3, but not on 2 - be warned. Once over the top on 3, don't soldier on like I did, relax till n group catch you from behind and then hook onto them, you will save a lot of time as it is fast all the way then. At the breaks you want to lie and rest: towel and small pillow?

    Thanks Pikey for helping me choose the Stumpy! Hell of a tough ride, took me 6:30 but happy to make it

    I eventually used the Stumpy despite being 2.3kg heavier and was glad I did, sometimes felt like a constant rock garden. Marathon nearly killed me but I got home in 1 piece. But next time, rather the half marathon for me.Considering the terrain of Van Gaalen and Clarens, I think I need to sell the Epic and get more help from a Camber or other brand

    Question: if you can choose between a Spez epic (light) or stumpy fsr (heavier, can better take the rough stuff) for the marathon, which will you take?

    That exit will cause a massive backup and stopping on the bridge, major #fail

    We were cycling in the area and saw the new single track so took it, about an hour before the race go there. Initially great but gradually became more rocky and less clear and later we had to push bikes a lot. Obviously hard work to build a trail! Signing also got worse to the end, but if it weren't for the rain I would love to ride it again this weekend.
