  1. I could not agree more. If we can do online banking and transfer millions of rands, sars, pay fines everything else. For those that dont have internet access they could still do the manual thing. I like the way the ballots are full colour is that necessary ?? They were chatting about it on 702 apparently a few countries india and the states have started to automate there system. Besides all that ill vote for the party you gives away free bikes!!
  2. Back to the lack of coverage: i was thinking the same thing, this was one of the biggest events in cycling to be hosted in SA and there was nothing on besides freecaster online. Cant we afford the rights or do we just not care. I thought there would be massive coverage like on the epic, nothing!! The local shows missed it this week propably next week will be a big show on it but its a week later. I dont get it. Is MTB that small or was everyone away on a long weekend. Im so dissapointed ( I was going to attend but stayed with my newborn thinking there would be good coverage) Oh and nothing on the news, not even a proudly south african Go Greg
  3. Watch the starting line of the pro racers that will give you a good indication. That being that they have team mechanics and sponsored rides. I ride a reba and would love a fox, cant afford a fox and dont want a mission of the fox. I have had dud forks before (lefty) it aint fun. So perhaps reliability will win out
  4. I want to keep this thread focused so that something can really come from it. Seriously where do these bikes go? It's not like other stolen goods is it? It is a limited community and it shouldn't be a human rights issue. If someone was selling a paraglider for dirt cheap then question would be asked. Same thing here. If you see someone with a bike that was obviously created for a hobby or a race machine and was now being used as a commute( with no helmet) then surely questions should be asked. Again anyone know where these bikes are going?
  5. What is happening to the bikes that are being stolen? Surely the bikes are too high end for them to go unnoticed. Are the criminals riding them or flogging them off? If so (cyclist who are buying stolen bikes) are creating a market for stolen bicycles. Ironically they would be putting themselves in danger of getting the bike stolen from them. Alternatively if the criminals are riding around on these bikes questions need to be asked of them.Where did you get that wonderful bike? could we see a receipt or something. Surely something can be done to curtail this problem?
  6. What a shame man. Hope you are ok. What do you think happens with these stolen bikes.DO they ride them sell them. Surely there must be a way to stop there being a market. I cant believe that a fellow cyclist would buy a stolen bike.
  7. THats where i came pipe. But im proud of myself,, fixed everything (including my ego) and jumped it.
  8. THats where i cam pipe. But im proud of myself,, fixed everything (including my ego) and jumped it.
  9. That is awesome.
  10. Dirty Twin thats exactly what I am talking about. Sure express your opinion. But think of the consequences. Please don't be offended, but sometimes comments like that have unintended consequences.
  11. I think the idea is that you wouldn't want people walking up to you while buying a car and saying hey I think that car is rubbish. Yes I am all for making an informed decision. Problem is people's perspectives are subjective to there experience. So when they have a bad experience with something they say its rubbish. However others might have a good experience with the same product. The same I suppose is true for everything in life. My concern is there is a time and place for everything, and its not in front of the car salesman.
  12. I have been thinking about creating this thread for a while. I left it and thought it was just me. However another hubber phoned and had the same feelings. so here goes. With all due respect to those in the know, those that have experience and those that simply should be respected for what they do and have done for cycling. There seems to be a crowd who simply cant mind there own business. I have seen a few threads of late where people post replies to sales without thinking about what the consequences will be. Yes people are free to express there opinions but should stop trying to speak for everyone or negatively affect a sale. Surely if you think somebody is asking too much you could PM them or state your concerns in a positive way. The forums are there to ensure fair practice, not too get dragged into long debates over the price of something or whether something is good or bad. Many hubbers use other threads to do there research to find out the truth about a bike or product. I suggest we have something like MYOB Mind Your Own Business If you feel somebody is unfairly interfering in your business you could post MYOB and everyone would be aware that you feel that they are interfering and thus reduce people posting destructive comments.
  13. I think he was alone
  14. We need to start thinking like First world countries. I know this is going to sound deep. But in some way we are all adding to the situation. I nearly got knocked down on Saturday by a speeding (white)gentleman. In many ways we all abuse the law. I'm not comparing the two but saying in many ways we could make it better by insisting that we all obey the law in all areas.Sounds much easier than it is with the mix of 1st and 2nd world clashing.TIA
  15. Yip reminds me of the story of the 2 brothers a few years ago. they shot someone trying to still their bikes. It was a mess to sort out.I think that was in honeydew.
  16. I was considering riding with a gun but if we up the anti they will do the same. WE must remain positive. communicate things like this and obviously take precautions.
  17. I found out it was in Farmall which is near kya sand. Be safe out there either way.
  18. Near Kya sands.North JHB
  19. Just got a phone call from my father in law who came across a shooting. it all happened out in chartwell farmall area, the details are sketchy at the moment but the cyclist was shot in leg and is in the hospital. They got the bicycle back and they have the perps in custody. . If any one has more details or knows what actually happened please let us know.Man this is not fun anymore
  20. Anyone have an idea on the best way to put a petition together we could do it as a poll but i think it would work better if we could put our names down and then forward it.
  21. Nice to see there is some action on this. The contact with vitality is good and I think we should get a petition started or at least an explanation why we cant have what other products have. I still wonder why garmin doesn't follow this up as it will add value to its product.
  22. Just bought a garmin 305.I'm seriously enjoying it. Before I bought, no seriously before I bought it i phoned discovery vitality to check if they would do something about the vitality on the garmin. They said talk to Garmin. I did, Garmin was seriously unhelpful and didn't want to take it any further. Does anyone have any similar experience or am I just misinformed. I know the vitality points are trivial but i have been adding them up. I seriously don't want to ride with two straps.
