  1. How did you break 8 spokes??
  2. Totally agree.. day 1 was my first day of proper stage racing ever and it was difficult, cold and wet, but I loved it as well. My bike: not so much. Like everyone else, brakes were trashed, need new chain, lots of strange new noises.. The water points were ok, in my view, I did love the wash and lube service, but I did want more protein type foods like droewors, and maybe those cocao-balls they had at the Houwhoek race.
  3. My first time is going to be memorable.. looks a baptism of rain coming my way! Is it worth getting shoe covers? Snorkel?
  4. Agree on the finish.. it is a bit of a downer
  5. Lekker race, as always. I thought the vibe was excellent, marshalling was solid, beer at the end is a winner.. but for me two issues to improve for next year - 1. Waterpoints: I did the Long claw 52km, the first stop had bananas and bar ones, the second point had only apples and coke, while the third only Coke - no water available. For a R320 entrance fee I think the organisers can be a little more generous.. or at least tell riders to bring your own sustenance and two water bottles. 2. The race pack is a joke - bath gel and face wash samples, plus an advert for a retirement village.
  6. Yes, exactly. In the US there is a black box warning around tendons but my GP was completely unaware.
  7. I figured as much! Seems a shame though. Wonder what they 're hiding in there?
  8. Hi guys, Is there a MTB route through Orange Kloof from Constantia Nek? From the peak I can see various tracks and a jeep road going up the valley to the mountain. I was wondering is it possible to go over the mountain and connect to a route on the other side. Thanks, Dave
  9. Thanks guys. I will steer clear of Olympic, but will give Renay a shout. What is a fair price to pay?
  10. Can anyone recommend a great MTB setup experience in Cape Town, either S.Suburbs or city centre? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  11. I have had terrible experiences from the Service department: they lost my bike for about 40 minutes, then added on R1grand of parts that didnt solve the basic problem, after which I brough the bike back 4 times to attempt a solution. In the end, I have gone somewhere else. I can honestly say that Olympic have killed my enjoyment of mountain bikign this year.
