Thanks for the replies. Well, I just wanted to know if the frame itself is decent. Don't want it to snap or something if I ride over a root, but I guess you need to go very cheap before you get a frame like that. FuelEX: Do you know what the width of those rims are? I think I will fit some nobbly tyres to it.

I can get the following: http://www.silverbacklab.com/2011_website_SILVERBACK/alpine1.htm For about R6500 new. The components seem very decent for the money. What would be the limits of that bike? Obviously I am not going to take it to a downhill track, but should the frame stand up to some singletrack with some roots and rocks?

Does any place in ZA sell those Shimano (or similar) MTB closed cam quick release skewers? I really want one, but everyone just seems to stock overpriced bling open cam QRs.
