  1. Hi do you mean a gizmo to hang bike on a wall? If so I bought this one at Sportsmans Warehouse http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/pablo-folding-2-bike-rack.html#.VAWa63kcTrc Works like a dream - can hold 2 bikes
  2. Decided to do a quick 62 Km at Dischem yesterday as we did long Berge en Dale last week & doing loong Macsteel on Sunday (that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it!) Couldn't help but notice the amount of ambulances screaming up & down - saw aftermath of crash not far from the start & one of my mates witnessed one of the top lady riders come down not far from the finish. Don't think I've seen so many emergency vehicles travelling to & fro in any race. Good for the victims I suppose, as help arrives quickly. Anyone else notice this?
  3. Hate to disillusion you but the conservancy which is to remain is a fraction of what we ride at present - you can get a feel for the eventual size if you study the newly erected fences - I fear there wont even be enough land for a 15km route
  4. Hi don't know if this picture has been posted before but keep in mind if you are near one of these vehicles!!
  5. Plans to reduce the reserve down to around 275 ha has been around for a while with Heartland. The new fences bore testimony to this... This is way smaller than the one where the MTB trails are at the moment Makes me think that this purchase has been on the cards for some time. Would have bought AECI shares if I knew
  6. Sportsman's Warehouse has some nice First Accent ones. If you have spent too much with the shoes etc. then Mr Price Sports has some which are less expensive. Get the proper ones with back pockets to carry gels and stuff. Gels are quite well priced at Dischem
  7. Hi Prince Vlad I did exactly what you are doing some years ago. My advice is to try and get a 70,80 or 100 km ride under your belt before the race. The nutrition tips here are sound and you should follow them. I would also drive the route beforehand on a Sunday perhaps (OK not up the off-ramps on the M2!) but particularly the back Krugersdorp highway & the hills coming into Kyalami. There's one mother which I heard after my first ride, is called Heartbreak Hill Take it easy & the only goal you should set for this one is to finish, coz next year you will be itching to get a PB & the bug will have bitten Chances are you will then invest in a road bike which is what happened to me after seeing paunchy riders on road bikes smoking me on the K'dorp road. Definitely put slicks on for an easier ride unless you are feeling strong & ride safely. Let us know how it went
  8. I cant believe that nobody has commented on Cavendish taking out Tom Veelers yesterday. Watching the incident in super slow mo makes it appear as if there was malicious intent in the dispatching of his opponent. I seriously dislike this little man & although he may be a good rider, he exhibits some very nasty & unsavory tendencies.
  9. Agreed - we did the Lionman a few weeks ago & it was seriously well organised & a pleasure to ride, so we went to the Sondela with similar expectations - 2 more different races you couldnt find. I think that the lack of any elevation also makes it boring & we couldnt wait for the end, which the the extra km didnt help. Not again!
  10. Couldn't agree more with this post - poorly layed out course, soft sand then ass crunching bumpy zig zag bush track - those of us with hard tails have eina back tails today! This will be crossed off our list for next year
