  1. I want to buy a road bike. I have between R5-8k to spend. I MTB, Want to give this road cycling a go and maybe do the 94.7 this year. Any suggested bikes in price range? Should I consider second hand? Tx Ginger
  2. A friend of mine told me that at cyclelab in centurion they do group road rides for beginners, etc. dont know if this is true, but maybe phone cycle lab at design quarter in fourways?
  3. One of our Mommies is a roadie too. Will find out for you which club she belongs too. Good luck!
  4. Hi, The Bicycle trader shop in Fourways does a lot of group training rides (road and mtb) during the week and on weekend. I noticed on their facebook page. So maybe check that out. We do MTB'ing if you are interested. Ride like a girl! Ginger
  5. We certainly do! We havent had a pregnant mommy, but it wont be a problem at all. We all start and finish together. We wait for all the mommies at the top of the hills and catch our breathes together. Its very social and we adjust the pace to the riders on the day. Your wife can ride at the pace that she feels comfortable with and we will ride with her.
  6. The MTB Mommies first ride for 2013 at Northern farms on 26 January 2013 @ 07h30. Easy 20km ride. We know our mommies are training hard for duathlons, MTB races and the warrior race, so this is a fun social ride for the girls of all fitness levels. In true MTB Mommies tradition this opening ride calls for champagne afterwards! Check our our facebook page for more details. Come and ride like a girl! Ginger Mommy

  8. Time for the monthly MTB Mommies ride this Sunday 30 September 2012 at Northern Farms @ 7:30 am. We are riding the usual 20 km social ride. Check out further details on http://www.facebook.com/MtbMommies Proudly riding like a Girl !!!
  9. Second Nissan event I took part in and same story as all the other comments, bottlenecks were terrible, even just for our 20km fun ride Kids doing the 10km caused a bit of congestion, being a mum myself, I would've preferred a separate kiddies race that didn't follow the same trail as the other distances.
  10. Remember our Group MTB Mommies ride tomorrow (26 August 2012) at Northern Farm at 8am. We'll meet in front of the food area. Hoping to see some new faces tomorrow. We've even got champagne for afterwards!
  11. Good advice, thanks. I fall over like a dumb ass in anyway, so dont need to increase the odds of that happening.
  12. Erm . . . only wear the slippers when it is paired with my stretched out tracksuit pants from materinty days?? does that count??
  13. Will cleats really make a big difference? I'm a bit of a klutz, so I'm reluctant to take the leap of faith from my trust trail running shoes I use for MTB'ing to cleats. Your views?
  14. No probs, we were planning on taking part, but "Mommy" was more important than "MTB" yesterday and babysitters were hard to find on a public holiday. Hope it went great, we will be sure to join next one
  15. Hubbies are more than welcome to cycle with us, my hubby will definately be there. But it is all about the mommies!
