  1. I recently rode to Durban with Frans and Janine from Benoni on a fundraiser for Reach for a Dream. Both of them were super people, always encouraging the rest of us, always good for a laugh, Frans always ready to help anyone with a bike problem, and Janine a real mensch with good life advice. I only knew them for a few weeks but I am devastated. RIP Frans and Janine, and condolences to their loved ones.
  2. Small Abus key found at the cradle
  3. There is a very short section of the N2 from the Haga turn-off to the Tainton turn-off where we ride in the concrete gutter. Alternatively you can take the the Haga road for approximately 2km, and then turn right towards the Police station. This road also takes you back to Tainton. The rest of those routes are not on the N2
  4. Hi MudLark, there are a number of gravel routes(not single track) from the Cintsa east turn-off. We normaly start at Cefani near Cintsa, ride the tar up the hill to the t-junction, turn right, and then either left for a sixty km loop past Mandela village which comes out at the Haga Haga turn-off, or we carry on a bit on the tar and then take the Tainton turn-off which is a long grind up to the N2, but great fun coming back. That is a 42 km ride.

  6. Thanks Fat B, Even though there were only a few of us I think we achieved a lot. Well done for organizing it, Maybe we can try again in the new year?
  7. http://dgmt-commons.co.za/establishing-an-ngo-legal-compliance-and-registration/registering-a-pbo-why-with-whom-and-how/ Try as well to get a local Lions, Rotary or Round Table club involved. Good luck!
  8. We were not allowed to offer refreshments, but our main duty was to warn slower runners on the short route of the top runners coming through, so we had whistles and had to shout quite a bit. It is also a control measure to eliminate any possibility of cheating.
  9. I accompanied Marko Mambo in this years Om Die Dam, which he won in 2:59. It was fun, but the uphills are the only challenge, as he did not slow down at all, and actually accelerated up the last hill to the finish where he was doing 18km/h! The local running club approached our Cycling club for assistance, so that's how I got involved.
  10. My son Vincent, email him at v.king@live.co.za for some pics. He also does grips.
  11. I bought a Brooks to go on an old steel Road bike, and when I realised how comfy it was I moved it to my MTB. I will be doing my second Sani2c on it in a few weeks time and will not change! I got mine from Steadler in Munich for 80 Euros.
  12. Please go back to the OP, I fully understand that it is my choice to decide whether to pay or not. But what are we actually paying for? I have no idea!
  13. So Kranswurm, then you should know that the financial reports for 2017 are not yet on the website! Furthermore, I am a member of a club, and know exactly what I do for the club and what the club does for me. This is not the case with CSA, do you know exactly who were the recipients of the 5bar in 2016? I think not! Furthermore, I cannot find any accounting relating to the NW affiliation that I must pay. There is no website, no contact details, and we have no provincial championships organised for us. So why should we pay? So to answer your question, what do I do for them, I pay them!
