  1. Ok, thanks, so the Fomula's are obviously pretty good then...
  2. I am looking at a new bike that is specced with Formula RX Brakes but I know nothing about them and currently ride with Avid Elixir CR's, which I am very happy with. Are the Formula RX brakes as good as Avid Elixir's or would it be worth transferring the Avid's to the new bike to maintain performance? Thanks
  3. Continental Mountain King on the front and Race King on the back, there is no better combo. They're a bit more expensive - for good reason...German technology where you need it most on a bike... Rode Crossmarks for a long time, wear is definitely not as good, grip is not as good and they tend to blister.
  4. Thanks chaps, appreciate it
  5. Value of +/- R5000-00...
  6. If I order something from the UK, how much will I have to pay when I collect it here? Thanks.
  7. About R850 from CRC, BRILLIANT shorts!!
  8. Fair enough, like anything in life I guess you get what you pay for...So, for keeping it real, how much would you charge for a white frame and a couple of red and black decals for the downtube, top tube and seatstays? I'll handle the stripping and rebuilding of the bike.
  9. Thanks guys, you raise good points - I also find it a bit odd that one quote is a third of the price of another... I have heard of a chap who does motorbikes through another mate of mine so am going to give him a shout today - will post the outcome.
  10. Thanks guys, appreciate your input!
  11. Hi Guys, Where is the best place in Cape Town to have a bike resprayed and approximately what does it cost? Not looking at anything fancy, just plain white with a new logo. Thanks.

  13. Thats awful, I had hoped he was ok....I cycled past soon afterwards and saw the bike on the side of the road and the car with its windscreen and bumper smashed, but the ambulance was already gone. It was a big reality check for me because if I'd got up any earlier it could've just as easily have been me. My condolences to the family.

  15. Next to Pepenero Restaurant, sort of opposite Wakame and Newport, in the place where Sundance used to be...
  16. I'm sure the Cape Town guys are familiar with John 'O Connor cycles - the relatively new shop that has opened in Mouille Point. Well, I feel that as a new shop they need all the support they can get, so I would like to put out a VERY positive word for them... One is always a bit sceptical when trying out a new shop, but after the recent service I'd received from another shop in Cape Town I needed to regain my faith in bike mechanics so thought I'd give the new guys a try. I took my road bike in to have everything rectified from the last "service" I'd had done, as well as my mtb shock for a service. Within an hour or two they had called me back with a quote and a time that I could come and collect both my bikes. As it turns out they were slightly delayed, but I was kept informed the whole time and when I received them back it was like riding two new bikes, so I was suitably impressed. I then took my road bike in to have my bars changed to my tt setup for tri season, and within two hours they'd called to say it was done, and I could collect. On collecting I was again pleasantly surprised because they'd very kindly done a full service of the bike (just because they weren't busy) and for which I wasnt charged, and again, the workmanship is excellent. To sum it all up, thanks John, you run a really professional shop and have definitely gained a loyal new customer due to the friendly, efficient, and hassle free service I've received. Guys, if you are looking for a good shop, that is conveniently situated for us who live in town, I'd recommend these guys any day!
  17. Thanks guys, taking it in today!
  18. Hi guys, I have an older generation Rockshox SID (model just before they put on the lockout). Lately it seems to "bottom out" and stop after 20-30mm of compression, and I think it has 60mm travel. There is also very little rebound regardless of how I change the + and - pressure. Does it just need a good service or is it poked? Would appreciate your advice...
  19. Thanks, had a look at the website, its rather primitive, but the frames look awesome - please let us know if it all works out.
  20. Ah, thanks Shamus...How much do they go for?mataz2009-09-16 04:56:26
  21. Ok, thanks Windblown, that's what I use for road racing, but isn't it better to use a full slick like the Schwalbe Ultremo? mataz2009-09-16 04:53:39
  22. What's the best/fastest clincher tyre for triathlon/time trials?
  23. Do you guys have the Profile Design Aero bottles and brackets that fit between the tribars?
