  1. Hey woofie! That bridgestone kit looks fimiliar - looks like the kit of the DC team that I kept back with my 3 or 4 punctures in 2009. At the time, got the advice of using gatorskins and someone even said they replace the gatorskin as soon as they get their first flat. Yes, that becomes a bit of an expensive exercise. So, embarrassed after that race (letting my team down like that), I converted to good 'ol gatorskins and loving it. Yeah, ran through my first set within a season, but I guess that's part of normal maintenance. Like having to service your car every year... (I didn't read anywhere which tyres you're on, and no offence intended if you know the gatorskin propaganda.) What I also found helps to make the tyre last a bit longer (once it got a cut), is to check regularly if no glass and stuff worked its way into the weak area. Yeah, that's risky, but I only do that for my training tyres - got a new set of tyres which I'm saving for races. Lastly - get a MTB for commuting. You can avoid the traffic and if you're as lucky as me you can ride through from rhodes memorial to vredehoek or the cable car station to CPT CBD. Well, good luck and hope you can find a good solution. Nothing more frustrating...
  2. STUNNING pics!!! I'll look out for more pics from the other rides.
  3. Just got my goodies, and almost got an extra cassette! Thanks Chris!
  4. Yeah! How about a tubeless conversion kit + some tubeless MTB tyres (got Maxxis crossmark non-UST's to trade in). And maybe a nice but affordable MTB fork. Busy building up...
  5. JJ Cycling's saying that Dragons Sport is the current importers. My LBS also mentioned something about them last time, but they were the guys trying the Loctite. Guess mtbonline needs some updating... Any news on a good wheel builder in CT??
  6. Velo - guys the electric fencing aint helping much now...
  7. Cool - good news! Now to find a good wheel builder in CT. I've heard of guys at the BMC (Bike Maintenance Company) - are they any good? Any other pro's around?
  8. What awesome pics!!! Can't believe some of the obsessed 18 thought there will be any riding this weekend. I trained indoors...
  9. I queried with both - will let you know who the real devils are...
  10. Thanks for the tech advice. I have read quite a bit of reviews and it generally circle around tension. Before getting a professional wheel builder to the party, should I not insist on a well-tensioned wheel to start with? That's what I'll expect when buying a new wheel! Does anyone have any info on the warranty with the new wheel? I've done google searches and everything on the mavic.com website but couldn't find a single email address to contact. Also, didn't get a specific warranty card on purchase... If I'm to resort to a wheel builder - is the wheel recoverable or is it a write-off?
  11. So it's no use going to the LBS? They've been pretty good at giving a temp fix (trueing free of charge every time)... I'll try mavic.com
  12. Hi, Need some advice... Bought my first road bike in Feb this year (had to wait about 2 months to get a 63cm frame) and lovin it! The LBS had an excellent deal on the 2007 Ksyrium Elite's which I couldn't resist. So I thought I'll ramp up the bike setup with some good wheels. Within 3 weeks I had a buckle on the back wheel. Since then I probably had it trued 4 or 5 times. In between I was riding it with the buckle, every time starting at after 150km. REALLY annoying. They sent it back to the distributor for some locktite, but that didn't help much. And no, I'm not as heavy as my name suggest - only 83kg. What can I do??? Is there some kinda warranty? Wheel is currently back for trueing - AGAIN!
