  1. Brilliant one guys I beleive that this ended up rasing 150K Much respect.
  2. Thanks, glad to see some of you guys appreciating the Think BIke Marshals. Bloody long day for us, we were on station at 4 AM and rode in with the last riders around 4:30 PM. Most of us did at least 3 circuits with one or two doing 4. With travelling we did anywhere from 350 to 480 KMs on the day. We were 43 on the road plus 3 in the JOC and then our CREW who kept us fed and hydrated. Our biggest problem on the day was keeping hydrated under our leathers and protective gear. As much as I tried, my wife would not let me put my sweaty helmet in the wshing machine. Off road rescue and Netcare 911 need a mention here too.
  3. Hey thanks for the concern. It was bad day all round yesterday for some. This is my 7th year as a Marshal for this race, and I have never seen so many downs. Think Bike has 2 Marshals down. One hit a pedestrian on the way to the event and another went down when he hit a double bump, got a tank slapper and it got away from him. The pedestrain and our Marshals got away lucky with minor injuries, No 2 however has a badly shattered leg, a broken wrist and a written off bike. There was a reported 100 plus incidents, severity 3 or over. I personally attended several crashes that involved serious injury. we can only speculate why the higher incident rate, but, the wind, the heat and the genral deteriotion of the roads could all be contributing factors. Strangely, we have had years with more incidents, but they were smaller severities. Think Bike, sends our best wishes to all that had an incident.
  4. Funny you mention that, was a bugger for me too. I am also a "VET" in fact I am the longest serving Marshal and Founder Marshal of the Think Bike Marshals and was Head marshal until recently. I usually ask for Vets groups as I am known and a lot of guys know my MO. I am happy for guys to race as long as it is safe and as long as the game is played when I call go left. look for the thread in chit Chat about Marshaling and post a comment. Cheers.
  5. Just a quick word to the VB's. I was the Marshals for the day and THANKS GUYS, you made my job very easy with the way you rode. We were only 14 Marshals as requested by the race organiser, and frankly, we could have easily been double that on some sections. It is not easy trying to stay in front and then getting hassled from the back by traffic. Much easier when we have a lead and sweep. The discipline though amongst the group was a pleasure.
  6. Have you guys tried this yet, we use this on our bike chains, which take a lot more punishment than yours http://www.fluid-film.com/applications/agriculture/
