  2. Hi, I usually go from Pinelands (Forest Drive) towards Rondebosch onto Raapenburg. Right onto Klipfontein and then right onto the very nice bicycle path along Liesbeek Parkway. Left on Station all the way up to Main and then into town that way. It's a good route because there are long sections of bicycle lanes and Main is actually good for cycling because there is a lot of congested traffic. Enjoy.
  3. Morning: Baxter 6:45 and CTICC 7:15 Evening: Church Square 18:00 It's CM time again folks. There is a move to watch the sun set at either Camps Bay or Bakoven. Bring something to drink. See you all there.
  4. Brett Heron on CT this morning: http://soundcloud.com/567-capetalk/wrapping-up-transport-month
  5. Have faith brother! Weather is clearing up.
  6. Anyone considered donating an old bike to make one of these in respect of the cyclist? I'd be happy to paint and organise it, but I just don't have a spare bike. It is an effective gesture of condolence and definitely gets the point across. http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/nov/10/ghost-bikes-memorials-cycling-victims
  7. Thanks for the input. Yes, CM has been going for about 4 years in CT and has been going for roughly 20 years (http://www.bicyclecapetown.org/2012/09/critical-mass-turns-20th-years-old/) around the world. It started in the morning (and still goes in the morning). But that's often inconvenient for people (as much as 18:00 is inconvenient for others). 18:00 is pretty much standard around the world, so that's why it was chosen here. There will always be an excuse for not riding (Golden Arrow, rain, too early, too late, not enough people, dangerous roads, too many people (moonlight mass)...), so come, meet some people, have a drink, or don't. Regarding the Golden Arrow bus thing (horrible, horrible, horrible), would you and your cyclist buddies be interested in donating a bike to create a ghost bike memorial (http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/nov/10/ghost-bikes-memorials-cycling-victims)? Thinking about doing a collection tonight at CM to get it done, just wondering about the practicalities.
  8. Firstly, that's sort of the point, or at very least to make the bicycle seen and appreciated. Secondly, not too many, between 20 and 40 hopefully, but really who knows.
  9. Totally separate events that are all happening. Join us in the evening and see what it's like. MM is really cool, but it is also really late and really full so you can't ride much, whereas this is the opposite. http://www.facebook.com/CriticalMassCapeTown?ref=hl
  10. Cape Town Critical Mass details, the weather looks good: Evening: Meet at Church Square at 18:00 (down the road from Parliament, opposite Milk and Honey).
