  3. Oja iu need some help!! I'm selling my boxxer race, Is R2500 a good price of a bit too low or high? very good condition though.
  4. i have a wheelset for you mate Mavic D321 of a bargain.
  5. There is a very simple way to disprove that assertion above: lock your bike in a bike stand' date=' preferably at the seat post or top tube, crank it a little bit to get the rear wheel up to a speed, and then hit the rear brake. Tell me which way your bike wants to jump off the stand? [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley2.gif[/img] Handspin the front wheel to try the test with that wheel. Please read again. "mtb wheels doesn't have the weight ie-moment of inertia to make such a difference in how a bike reacts in the air." Of course will the bike jump around without weight on it when you hit the brakes. This is were the difference comes in. the weight of a wheel compared to the the human body and a motorbike wheel. The question is how much moment of inertia is generated! If you want i'll mail you a handbook on moment of inertia. The brake thing on a mtb will hardly be noticeable. Good luck with physics101
  6. Do you know about braking in mid air? The momentum of your wheels alter your.. tipping so as not to case...You brake the wheel in which the direction of which you want to go in.That doesn't make sense. If you want to tip forward' date=' front brake. If you want to tip backward' date=' back brake.apparently[/quote''] No my friend it is not as a mx bike. mtb wheels doesn't have the weight ie-moment of inertia to make such a difference in how a bike reacts in the air. The bike is only controlled by how you shift your weight when you hit the jump. i'll try to find the link of a video clip of how to jump. good luck. GT Rules
  7. Engen copper slip on the headset, bb and all auspension jionts. bicycle grease on stem, fork clamps, seatposts. Bakkies2009-11-16 15:02:24
  8. all must be oiled, everything except the discs. if it squeeks, it will be lubed
  9. great. if you want ?'ll be making some custom frames. tell me the geometry you want and i'll make it at a bit extra naturaly.
  10. hold your horses. I wont be able to give full prices yet. i'd like to be able to sell full bikes as well as frames. as soon as i have negotiated with suppliers i'll be able to confirm a price.I guess about R14 000 with rear shock. Full warranty etc. BUT BEFORE YOU GET EXCITED! If everything goes to plan you'll be able to see and ride the bike at the first nationals next year.
  11. thanks for the more dirt link. it is awesome
  12. Capricorn: I agree function over fancy looks and no design is unique but simple alterations to the geometry can deliver great results. A huge case study has been done to select the best design. Before i designed the frame and looks, i designed the suspension so function first. The rear wheel path will be allot like the vvp from santcruz. a intial low leaverage ratio and high ratio at the end of stroke.
  13. I wrote my own excel program with all the motions kinematics, leaverage ratios and so forth. My cad is a freeware and is limited. but i'm saving up for a full package to do a finite element analysis. The bike will be world class. I've already designed the welding procedures and manufacturing specs. these pics are some of my earlier designs. i'm testing weather the design looks good enough to market.
  14. UPDATE: REAR TRIANGLE INCLUDED!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK???
  15. thanks but if my design works, you'll be seing the next sa brand, dh bike. The frame is aimed at between 3.5kg - 4kg. 210mm rear wheel travel. a very low leaverage ratio on the initial shock stroke and ramps up to get a very soft bottom out.
  16. sourcing the material in RSA is a problem but one of my old professors(he is a material specialist. he is helping me allot. It will be aluminium. My first frame will be a simple monoc frame. it dosn.t look like it now bot wait until 'im finished with the project. I'm also busy designing a bike that looks similar to the intense 951. I'll keep you posted.
  17. hi guys, I'm planning to build my own dh bike. would you ride a bike that looks like this
  18. are the crown mounted stems lighter than a easton vice?
  19. downhill king where did friend find a carbon gt fury so soon? I'd like one too
  20. the dude from gt told me last week they have 2 fury bikes and 1 framesets comming to RSA for next year. I Think they may already be here. I can't remember the price of the team bike but i think it's ging to be in the high 50's. I'm super stoked with GT's response to frame replacements. it takes a bit long but not too many questions asked. Brad? isn't the hope or the saint a bit heavy
  21. I'm looking to upgrade my brake. Any sugestions?
  22. I Had to put in my newest steed. Brand new frame. This is my build X0 shifters +rear derailer Avid juisy 7 discs MTX rims laced to swiss dt 440 hubs Boxxer WC Saint cranks Easton carbon monkey bar Easton vice stem oja- fox dhx5.0 rear shock
  23. Tried and tested the sixsixone knee/shins. I bought the 4x4 pads <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The manufacturing is of the highest. The pads give allot of leg movement and does not restrict leg movement. They feel very soft and comfortable. The pads wrap around the entire leg thus very hot. All and all a great pad but a bit to hot for <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Africaon>
  24. I think it will be good to have a section on protective equipment. What is the besty helmet and so forth. Pleas post some reviews
