  1. My sister fixed hers after being lied to by the salesman at cycle lab that it works, or was then just waiting for the update etc… She sold it and bought a specialized.
  2. Hey guys, I too am stuck with accommodation for the repeat currently. Anyone know where we can sleep a mixed team of 4 for the night?
  3. I started in CL (I knew from the RFS I wasn't going to hang with AL) this was the second time out on the road since my accident last year so still getting some power and endurance back but this one I really enjoyed. Managed to hang onto 4 guys that did all the work in the wind until the rest of the group caught us and offered some shade. Only saw one minor accident the whole day while climbing the R563 but they all looked fine. Finished with a 3:21:29 so getting stronger! I had no complaints, venue was good and nicely organised. There was plenty parking and easy to figure out where you needed to go etc. The reverse route was challenging - I've only ever done the event once last year and both ways work for me, weather was epic, marshalling was very good - especially getting traffic past us safely on the N14 *Thanks guys!!* I'll definitely do it again next year!
  4. Oh and I must add, parking, venue, the goodie bag, medal and friendliness was so worth the small entry fee! I felt so sorry for the poor people battling the bees at the finish line refreshment station but they were still so pleasant and cheerful - well done!
  5. My first time again, had a good ride and enjoyed it with the AL guys but do regret not pushing a little, suppose that’s learning. Thanks to the organizers, I’ll be back to push hard next year.
  6. Was this Mr Camelbak in Goldwagen EOH top - CL1252?
  7. Hi all, I started cycling this year, I was roped into doing the 94.7 last year and managed to sustain a spinal injury in September which put me out but the few weeks of training had me enjoying the bike. I bought a road bike and have done some races this year, so far enjoying the longer rides - look forward to wearing out the tyres this year and getting faster for longer!
  8. I had an awesome time with Goldwagen guys, I dropped back from CL to ride with them and had a good ride, I managed a 2H39. My first time on this one I enjoyed it, even got to pull the group for a bit in the wind - they said my size and calves made me better suited to breaking the wind haha. Shout out to one of the guys that noticed me dipping my toes, found some Hp to finish after that - thanks! I would like to comment on the slower guys keeping left, every time I shouted "left please" they moved and on passing I said "thank you" and received a "pleasure" the only trouble was some guys were on their way passing on the left and the poor guys are being asked to move left... perhaps I'm still very green but that seems like a recipe for an accident. Thanks to the guys that made space, we were a big group with a good momentum going.
  9. Thanks all, Hey masood!!! Hehehehe I think I might take that Giant, looks really good, good price at R6500... now how about a bike carier? Needs to take three bikes and still have trailer on a Merc ML
  10. Thanks doc, I do still have helmet and some kit, but you are correct I still need shoes, tool kits and bits :-) Don't stress I'm happy with 5-7k on the bike only. You'll have to excuse my noobie ignorance, when you refer to a 29er you talking of wheel size no? I've never riden (How you spell that? double d?) a full suspension bike so don't really feel the need to have it :-) hehehe I just won't try one out - that happened at mercedes benz and it's not healthy for the bank manager! hahaha Brands, shops, where to go, what to do? Oh and I'm roughly 5ft11 ish, 85kg
  11. Hi all, I'm looking to get back into riding after being out for almost 5 years now :-) Crazy how stuff changes and stuff stays the same! Anyways so I had a look at a few bikes the other day, a Giant (Not sure which one) really nice bike, rockshocks up front with lockout, 9 speed, hydro discs, was dark grey and had that curve in the top tube before the seat - know what I'm talking about (Retailing at R6k odd) And I had a look at a GT but not as much spec as the Giant for the same price... So I need some suggestions, Generally the bike will be used on game farms, golf courses :-) , parks trails etc, and will obviously see a few road days but not often. I'm pretty comfy spending in the 5 - 7k bracket. Help anyone? Should I be looking at used as well? Do I need full suspension? 9 speed yada yada? what should I be looking for in a new bike?
