  1. Awesome Willem !

How are those wheels' date=' im getting the standard build in a week or so, can't wait !

But I was lead to believe that they could not be built onto any hub(the rim) who built these ? I have the previous 240s and thought they wouldnt work, or are the new ones different ?

Wouldn mind a powertap on my 355's to go with the garmin im getting ;)
    [/quote']

I'm very happy with the wheels!

As far as I know the Podium MMX rims can be built onto any hub...

Johan Bornman built the wheels for me (highly reccommend him to build any wheel). Front I have DT Swiss tripple butted spokes and rear DT Swiss double butted spokes (CycleOps/PowerTap doesn't reccommed building PowerTap wheel with tripple butted spokes)

As far as the Easton stuff goes, the MonkeyLite SL riser bar is a must have! Makes a huge difference on handling!

  2. Whats the weight of your GT Willem' date=' looks awesome.[/quote']

Weight is 9.7kg as shown in the pictures, with cages and PowerTap wheel.

(The PowerTap does have a bit of a weight penalty to it)

  4. Congrats Willem. This Cruise was a tough one!!!
Who were you racing with most of the way' date=' and did you know you were at the front of the "Golden Bike Race"?
    Enjoy it!!![/quote']

Thanks Spaceboy! The last 11km was the toughest... Well, based on the races I did during the year, I had a rough idea for whom I should look out for during the race. I made sure that I never lost sight of them. I broke away from them around the King of the Mountain spot. From there on I rode my heart out and gave it my all till the end!
  5. Well done Willem! smiley32.gif There was some tough competition for this bike. Are you going to ride it or keep it unspoilt as an heirloom?

Thanks Jules! Is this a trick question? I don't know yet. On the one hand I feel like putting the bike in a glass cabinet, and on the other hand it begs to be raced! I will probably end up riding it.
  6. That looks damn nice.nothing like there photo's of a while back.

    What's it weigh?

Don't know the weight yet. Will take it to my LBS to have it weighed. Compared to my Scott (Scale 20) it feels quite a bit lighter. Then again, my Scott is not the lightest with the PowerTap wheel on. Will post the weight asap.

    Edge? 500

    Product Available: 4th Quarter, 2009

    Part Number: 010-00829-00
Suggested Retail Price: $ 274.99 USD
    >

Sharpen your cycling performance performance with Edge 500, a lightweight GPS-based cycling computer for performance-driven cyclists. Loaded with data, Edge 500 tracks your distance, speed, location and elevation with high sensitivity GPS. Add an ANT+? compatible heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor or compatible power meter for a finely-tuned analysis of your ride.

    Jumpstart Your Training

The Edge 500 attaches easily to the stem or handlebars of your bike with its low-profile bike mount. The Edge attaches easily to the mount with a simple quarter-turn. When you're ready to ride, just power on your Edge, acquire GPS satellites and go. Edge 500 features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix? satellite prediction to calculate your position faster.

    Get the Data You Need

During your ride, Edge 500 measures your speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, and records this data for your review. For extra-precise climb and descent data, Edge 500 also incorporates a barometric altimeter to pinpoint changes in elevation.

All Edge 500 versions work with third-party ANT+-enabled power meters to display your power output in watts as you ride. This valuable data shows you how hard you're working, regardless of conditions affecting your ride, so you can train smarter. Some versions also ship with a digital heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor.

Other helpful training features include a Courses feature, which helps you compare successive rides over the same route, as well as Auto Pause, Auto Lap and temperature readings. Edge also alerts you if you?re moving but the timer is not running.

    Track Your Heart Rate

When paired with a Garmin heart rate monitor, Edge 500 tracks heart beats per minute and uses your heart rate for advanced calorie computation, so you know how many calories you're burning. Train in a certain heart-rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance over the same ride.

    Analyze Your Ride

Once your ride?s done, connect Edge 500 to your computer with the included USB cable to analyze your performance. With a simple click, you can join a worldwide network of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts through Garmin Connect?, a one-stop site for data analysis and sharing.

  8. We often receive queries on our product quality' date=' efficacy and formulations.
This has been a recurring cycle of abuse from independent individuals who
believe that they have a profound knowledge of the industry, the MCC
regulations, GMP, product development, packaging and ultimately the delivery
of the product to the end user. Comments that start with the phrase 'I have
heard' bear little weight behind them. As they say, the proof is in the
pudding, and if you have not used USN's range of product, you cannot judge
it. For that matter, you cannot judge any brand if you have not used it.

The 'universal mark' in the company's logo is symbolic of global scientific
findings and the latest clinical research that inspires our scientists to
produce state-of-the-art product formulations. Raw materials are sourced
from around the world, and then mixed in pharmaceutical laboratories
(Europe, Australia and South Africa) according to formulae developed by
    USN's global team of scientists.

Underpinning the USN message is a concentration on ethics and honesty, so
that consumers are properly educated about which products to use and how to
use them. As a result, USN has very quickly built a loyal customer base,
which inherently trusts the products to help them achieve their goals.

At USN we aim to provide world class nutritional supplements with the
highest possible quality. USN products are being manufactured according to
stringent GMP and MCC regulations and therefore proactive steps are taken to
ensure that our products are safe, pure, and effective.

As part of this system, hundreds of laboratory tests are being performed on
a monthly basis to ensure that ingredients used in products

    *        Comply with suppliers' Certificates of Analyses
    *        Comply with microbiological standards
    *        Are pure and free from contaminants (including banned substances)

In addition, independent SANAS Accredited Laboratory tests are performed on
a monthly basis to ensure that the final USN products are in accordance with
labelled quantities. We use independent laboratories to perform over 2000
tests per annum on raw materials and final product.

Our qualified R&D team works closely with international pharmaceutical
    companies to ensure that:

    *        Formulations are inspired by the latest research
    *        Products meet all label claims
    *        Product labelling adheres to the applicable Labelling Regulations

We are stringent in our business, and we demand Certificates of Compliance
(Analyses) form our raw material suppliers.

In addition we have established working relationships with ESSNA (European
Specialised Sports Nutrition Alliance), SAIDS (South African Institute for
Drug Free Sport) as well as the University of the Free State to further
assist us in product development and testing. We believe in going beyond
what is expected of any player in this industry.

Individuals who claim to have the product testing analysis sheets are more
than welcome to enter into discussion with us. Our business is transparent,
and we work diligently towards delivering a premium product to the end-user.

None of our retail partners or the relative authorities who govern what we
do would want to associate themselves with a brand or range of products that
do not conform to the legislation around the industry. We remain the leader
in sports nutrition in South Africa and a key player in Europe as a result
of the effort we put into delivering a premium brand.

Please can you follow Pornstars example and post some "Certificates of Compliance". I am sure there is a lot of hubbers out there that will appreciate it...
  9. Hi

YOu can use my amino carb product for on the bike and i can post a certificate of analysis on it' date=' certifying everything about product right down to the last letter.

Can use the pro amino recovery shake after heavt training days too, can supply the same certificate.

You need to eat balanced diet though for anything to work.

    [/quote']

Hi Pornstar, please can you post these certificates?

I am looking for a new, good quality, supplement brand, that is reliable.

So if you can convince me, you will have a new customer...
  10. Hi there Speed Devil

I dont take any supplements for recovery' date=' but i do eat quite "healthily" (read i dissolve anything in sight)

My muscle recovery is REALLY slow and extremely painful - when i am tired also generally after 2-3 days of commuting (45min-24kmph ave) it literally feels like the muscles are being pulled from the bone sometimes.

I have tried simply uping my protein intake - but that doesnt quite seem to help, another thing that makes this more tough is that i am allergic to milk.

It also takes me much longer for my muscles to warm up than my cycling mates.

I have noticed that it makes a HUGE improvement if i Stretch WELL before and after, but h3ll my legs still hurt.

Mostly you will find that your problem is not with Proteins or carbs but some sort of Amino acid/Vitamin/Mineral deficiency.

Interesting read this:Dr Colgan,Sport Nutrition Guide

    cw3/assets/product_full/sng_lrg.jpg

Also has a whole chapter on Creatine for Endurance athlethes.

I think that there is something very wrong with my nutrition regimen and i really need to go see a dietician or someone qualified (procrastination is a b1tch)
