  2. Yup, probably not the best day to cycle the spruit, may as well grab a bin bag and work some other muscles ;-)
  3. We are claiming back the most beautiful area in Jozi. Please diarize 7 June 2014 and come on down to Jozi's favourite river. There is a huge community drive the entire length of the Braamfontein Spruit, loads of fun for kids and adults. There is a tree surgeon in Parkmore donating his crew to cleaning up the invasive species around the Field and Study area, there are free pony rides for under 7 year olds in Rivonia who fill a bag with rubbish, there are talks on invasive species, etc at Delta centre, competitions and plenty more. Follow @SpruitDaySAon Twitter and Spruit Day on Facebook for updates. Bring family and friends and if you have something special to contribute, please contact Natalie Zimmelman 082 331 7846, nataliez@saica.co.za Lets give it everything guys!!! come and play 7 June ;-) spuit day small.bmp
  4. Sadly many of these homeless are good people, but their numbers need to be kept down and council clearly need our help with this. This petition will show government that the tax paying citizens care about the spruit and our environment cannot be ignored. Well done Parkmore Community Association for taking the initiative, I hope you get a huge number of signatures. I have no quarrel with the homeless, but I don't like the sorting guys doing their good work on the banks of the spruit. I live in Parkmore and have seen these guys pulling whole black bin bags out of our pik-it-up bins and placing them into their wide canvass carts which they then empty out next to the spruit. They remove recyclables and the rest remains at the spruit. Those of us who don't do our own sorting of rubbish need to start heading in that direction, because much of the garbage we trustingly toss into our pik-it-up bins is landing up at the spruit. Lets support this initiative
