  1. Great Idea! Count me in!
  2. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends and cycling community for their concern regarding the incident on Monday! Thank you for your support and well wishes! This made me realize how close a community we are! To Caitlin who stopped to help me. You're one brave lady!! Thanks! To Cycle Lab Centurion that worked through this week (Allan, Petro and their staff) and Derek of Merida, to get me all set up again - much appreciated! To my fellow cyclists please be careful out there and safe riding!
  3. I was just reading about some cyclist discussing techniques on disarming the mugger. From my experience on Monday I can just comment that you will have no time to think about disarming anyone when things are happing in milliseconds....best is to just hope that events play out in your favour.
  4. Yes in the '80s and '90s. Changed to cycling 2 and half years ago...reason my knees started giving problems...less impact!
  5. Thanks a mil! I am riding my KTM at the moment...started riding today again..just sore arm...will manage.
  6. This was me. It happened at 18:10. Ended up in hospital with a bullet wound!
  7. Thanks for the well wishes! No statement was taken. I was under the impression that any gun shot wound reported at a hospital had to be reported and investigated by the police??.....well does not look like it! And no my bike was not insured.
  8. All cyclist be aware of these criminals!!!!!! I am lucky to be alive today. The first bullet was fired at point blank range as I passed the two criminals. The powder burns are all around the entry wound. This bullet went through my arm and out the other side. It all happened so fast and as I tried to get up he came for me again with the revolver pointing towards my head. I was waving my hand to avoid him shooting me again. This shot either missed me or he had a misfire as my right ear was deaf from the first shot. This all happened at 18:10 with traffic flowing up and down Garsfontein Drive (Just opposite the entrance to the Pretoria East Cemetery) They took my Merida 29er and Garmin.
