  1. Thanks for the advice, ... finances are tighter than a nuns purse, so as much as wanting or needing a "New Steed" is out of the question. I do not think that the "Vehicle incident" cause this, as I did have a very violent twist when going over the obstacle with a flat tyre, plus my body weight adds some forces to the mix. And to think that I have the both the 947 55k MTB and road coming up (PS, I did not pay for these races) I am one of those chaps that have to make a plan, and make do with what I have. Thanks for the kind words though. Regards JD
  2. 26" Rockshox Reba RL ... have had this bike close on 8 years now.
  3. Sunday while riding I had a terrible squeak, and discovered the main Pivot Bearing shot, so I have managed to buy some replacements from a car spares place, regreased them and popped them in. But while fitting everything back together I came across the front Brace (Arch) of forks snapped. (Must have happened when I went down an obstacle and the front tyre went pap, had to bail) Anyway, is it just possible to get this welded up again from an aluminum welder? ... I cannot afford a whole new shock, I did browse the classifieds and almost died. Thanks for any input. Regards JD
  4. Thanks for the heads up on the terminology ... to me, it's just a back brake. That I like to know works
  5. It was just a frame he gave me. No BB or HS bearings. SO I need to find out what Parts will fit that frame, and the parts from my bike.
  6. Ok, my brake bolts on from the top, and the Silverback frame has them from the side. Silverback bolts are about 50mm apart. My brake fittings are about 73mm apart.
  7. I'm going to do the build, but have to check pricing etc for the BB to fit frame and my pedals, and HS bearings to fit frame and my forks. Plus a Rear brake for Bake brake to fit what I have. Money is tight, so have to plan carefully. Anbother Hubber promised me components, but I think that went south.
  8. Yeah, I had no choice, as everything was pressed for time, and I prayed it would hold up. So did a lot of "Light Thoughts" riding. Man I still need to lose like 50Kg, but keep the leg power.
  9. If you are willing to donate, my son-in-law walks about 12km to work everyday. (Bottom rung earnings) I can't help him out, as I use mine for my own transport. Anyway, no harm in asking. You can DM me if you wish. Regards.
  10. Yes I did, but it wasn't so enjoable as my phone was knicked from the toilets when I had forgotten it there when I went to get changed. So my whole ride was on everything I had just lost. Worst being that all the pictures I had of my departed son was on that phone that I can never get back again.
  11. Busy chatting with him via WhatsApp
  12. I know ... please do not get me wrong. We do not own a trustworthy vehicle. it's a '96 Golf. My wife uses it to work ... I cycle everywhere.

  16. Ghost has a 5yr Warranty on their Frames ... First bust was right through the pivot point. (This happened with a month left on the warranty) 2nd Bust was just above the pivot point. (This happened two years later) 3rd ... The crack as i posted today. (This happened after 6 months)
  17. LOL ... I've had this bike for like 8yrs now. Been in and out of jobs ... now kinda unemployed ... so she is all I have. ... Keeps me sane ... wife doesn't understand how.
  18. I'm based in Midrand. I'm also pressed for time, I have a race on Sunday and this is my only baby.
  19. Actually this frame is only 5 months old ... It's my third one. Last one bust just above the pin My problem is that I can no longer afford the "Shipping costs" anymore.
  20. If I had bucks yes, .... but I can't expect it. ... This is hard.
  21. One has to have an income of great value to enjoy the benefits of insurance ... I have neither.
  22. I have no other option Dex ... I'm like in between a rock and a hard place. Off the bat repair is like 10 grand ... Heart failure.
  23. Good morning everyone. Firstly it was the Hubbers that got me riding again after a vehicle crushed the back wheel (Big Thank You to Everyone) And it was a Hubber that graciously got me a ticket for the Juma (I ride this in memory of my son, so another Big Heartfelt Thank You) So I have been training for this ride, and yesterday strip my baby down to get it all ready for Sunday, and come across this crack where the central pivot point fits for a bottom shock. Now, I can no longer afford to keep paying for shipping costs (Frame is less than six months old) so I am going to attempt a repair using fibre tape and epoxy wrapped in a figure 8 around the 'wound' (see attached) Can anyone else give me any more tips for this, I would be most grateful. Regards JD
