  1. Yeah I also thought the Trail is better as I saw on the Titan website... But as Johnny Bravo says they are heavy bikes. So now to try get her to choose summin else she likes. Thanks for the advise - much appreciated
  2. See there is my first 2 problems already...she doesn't want a 26er & she likes the look of the Titans. Unless I buy her summin else & just have Titan decals made in pink or turquoise LOL. But thanks for your input - much appreciated...
  3. Hi all. I am looking at buying my wife a 650B instead of a 29er as she is only 1.63m tall. everywhere I have read has said that the 650B is best for her height. I have been looking at the Titan Calypso Sport or the Calypso Trail as she really likes the look of the bikes. I know this is entry level MTB but she is purely a week-end rider & a novice (she'll kill me saying that) Being a Newbie to the mtb scene I want to ask all you more experienced riders your opinions on these bikes & which is best... There aren't many small size frame bikes in the classifieds (Here, OLX & Gumtree). You opinions would be greatly appreciated. Pete
  4. Good day hubsters I am doing my second race this year (yes I know there are many I have missed) at van Loveren in Robertson on the 10th of August. Being a Newbie to the MTB scene I wanna ask some advice from anyone that has done the race before... What can I expect with regards to the terrain, climbs & intake before, during & after the race besides water of course. I have downloaded the map & graph that van Loverens website provides but not a clear indication on the kind of terrain etc. I'm doing the 30km race as I haven't got the legs or weight advantage yet to do the longer distance. I did the philidelphia race & I was quite fine during & after the race but I want to improve my riding & know I can do a lot better. Any constructive advice will be much appreciated.
  5. That would be really awesome & appreciated. What would I have to do or give to try it out? meaning my ID, proof of address & employment etc
  6. Thanks for the advice Rouxtjie. I appreciate it. I sometimes hate these text forums as there is no tone & I might've taken up what you said as sarcasm - apologies for that. I understand what your are sayin but the budget doesn't allow for much more... I pretty much have a choice of either supplying stuff for my child ie nappies, food etc or increasing the available money for a bike...im sure you know what I would choose. well the search continues...
  7. Not worried about v-brakes as that we can upgrade as she gets more into it. I appreciate all the comments but seriously my expectations aren't as high as Rouxtjie has made it out to be...but appreciate his comments (or sarcasm) anyway. I know im not gonna find much for the budget hence im asking the question if anyone knows of anything out there for that price range, please let me know... Thanks Marko35s, dirt rider for your constructive comments
  8. im goin to look at a Scott YZ3 for R1800.00. anyone know if its worth that?
  9. Thanks. I have checked loads of classifieds & have gone to look at a few bikes that are for sale on Gumtree BUT for the price range they are from Noahs arc days. Not that I'm expecting a carbon fibre bike for the budget I have but also don't want the Mrs riding a bike that's heavy or seriously outdated. Appreciate any assistance in locating a good quality bike for our tight budget..in the region of about R1500.00
  10. Good day all. I've recently bought a Merida TFS which I'm paying off & the mountain biking bug has bit & its bit down hard. I ride Majik as much as possible & did the 150yr Philidelphia race as my 1st. I wanna do more races if budget allows... My issue is that my wife is so eager to start riding with me which means I'll be able to ride more often... I'm urgently looking for a good quality 2nd hand bike for her. Small to medium frame. If there's anyone out there that perhaps has a bike we can loan or even make a payment plan to buy the bike from. Budget is very tight considering we have a 21month old daughter. If anyone knows or can help pls PM me. Thanks so much. God Bless
