  1. There are a lot of cars in the driving lane
  2. Not impatient or aggressive Spinnekop, merely bringing selfish behavior to light. The tractor and the rubbish guy don't hog an entire lane when there is space on the side. I am more than willing to wait behind them. They also don't swear at me when I talk to them. Also, they would have less chance of being hit by the "storm dronk" okes if they weren't in the middle of the road. I am not there to protect ignorance.
  3. You're right. It's not one particular group but rather one particular strand of human behavior:)
  4. On 31/12/2016 at around 05H30, my husband and I were driving down Hans Strydom on our way to a ride. There was a group of Bicycle company road riders heading the same way. Heading down towards Garsfontein Rd, there is literally an entire lane width to ride in on the yellow lane. But alas, for reasons I have yet to discover, people feel entitled and untouchable in groups. There were 3 people cycling IN THE MIDDLE of our one driving lane. Hans Strydom is already a dangerous road without the addition of dodging roadies. We had to slow down to the riders 40km/hour as it's a solid line and no safe place to pass. Everyone behind us then also had to drive at 40km/hour so that Mr. Entitled could use the whole lane. We gave a friendly little "toot toot" in case they hadn't heard the 5 plus cars behind them. Two riders moved over into the HUGE yellow lane while the king on his steed stayed in our lane. As we edged passed him my husband told him to move over to which he promptly replied "F%@ off." I don't know if he saw our bikes on the back of the car as we passed him, and perhaps thought to himself "Hmmm, if cyclists suggest I move over it might mean I'm a tonsil who's hogging the road?" but one can only hope. What I would like to put out into the world is this: Should cycling clubs start enforcing a penalty system for club members who blatantly swear at and undermine their fellow road users? They are bearing YOUR company name and certain rules should be enforced by the group leader no? These incidents are EXACTLY what cause drivers to lose respect for cyclists altogether, resulting in discourteous driving, resulting in cycling accidents.
  5. My hubby and I did the USN race at red barn a few months? ago. Was alright to be fair but must say you can't help but notice the bare minimal effort that goes into their races. Water points have nothing to eat and nothing exciting in the way of hydration. We also had lighties shouting us to track...on singletrack. We were not amused after we had ridden almost double their distance already. Unfortunately for them (fortunately for us), there are way too many other great MTB races we'll enter before considering theirs with organizers who actually care about your overall enjoyment. Come to the party guys, I'm not driving to registration for an envelope of cable ties again.
  6. looks good, will there be medics on site?
  7. I think you some it up nicely vinny. I have nothing against Specialized (some top class bikes) or the folk who want to take out a 2nd bond on their house to buy one but I cant help but notice that owning a specialized seems to make people feel more important than they actually are. I'm generalizing yes, but its more obvious compared to those who own other brands...just saying!
  8. You suck for rubbing it in our faces. Was sure we were going to be the ones rubbing it in peoples face. Enjoy
  9. Wow Vetseun, you're a charmer! My hubby and I ride together. There is no one I would rather ride with than him. Is that not what being married is about? Doing what you love most with the person you love most. Just a thought.
  10. Tjokkits, difference is you have way longer to finish the Freedom challenge. 5 days to ride 1000km definately takes more balls.
  11. Were decals received in the end? What is the verdict regarding this Phattrikes service??? Thanks
  12. When Plastic View gets demolished then the mugging and assaults will stop. Unfortunately the crime will probably only move as far as the illegal squatters do. Sad truth
