  1. So if not shimano pedals what is the alternative and why?
  2. Gave my old bike to one of my friends but took the pedals of to put on my new bike. My friend got cycling shoes and I told him I will give him the old pedals and will get myself new ones.
  3. Hi everyone I want to get a new set of mtb pedals. I only do xc riding. I am considering shimano (m520, m540 or xt), crank brothers egg beaters or Look S-track. I am leaning towards shimano as my current set of shimano pedals is 10 years old and still running. What I can gather from pedal reviews is that eggbeaters are light but not as durable as shimano and needs a rebuild every once in a while. According to the reviews the eggbeaters can damage the soles of your shoes as well. Couldnt get a lot of reviews on the Look S-track. Shimano reviews - not the lightest but bombproof, put them on your bike and ride! Any advice, suggestions, information about what pedals to go for would be appreciated???
  4. Ok now it makes sense to me, because towards the end of the "65km" it seemed to go on and on. The route was fast and flat, like expected with no sections than can really qualify as seriously technical. Was at times quite aware of the wind, especially when riding into it. Overall it was a pleasure to ride through this part of S.A.
  5. Just got through on the number provided. The guy I talked to said there will be 2 water points on the 45km route and 3 on the 65km route. Just to let you guys know. Enjoy the race on the weekend.
  6. Ok great will bring my board along. Just got it for the crater cruise this past weekend. Hopefully we can get some information about the water points.
  7. Also tried to phone the number supplied on the website but no answer. Very little information on website. Hopefully there will be at least 2 water points on the 65km route to full up water bottels. Does anyone know what timing system is going to be used?
  8. Hi I bought my Flash Carbon about a month ago at Tour de Frans Cycles. They gave me a really good deal on the 2013 model. The 2014 models should be in stores around November (confirmed by three shops) and yes the 2014 models are going to be pricey, with no major changes. So my opinion is go for 2013 model, if you can still get your hands on one. My flash handles, climbs and descends like a beast. Really happy with it.
  9. Thanks for everyone's advice and input, I really appreciate it! Now I am going to try and kill that turkey!!!
  10. Hi everyone! I would really appreciate your advice. I have a set of Avid elixir 9's on my cannondale flash. Got the bike less than a month ago. So the brakes are brand new. The problem is they squeal a lot, both the front and rear brakes. It is going to drive me crazy. Is there anything that I can do or let a bike shop do for me to solve this problem?
