  1. That price it must have been thirty years ago.
  2. Morning all i also commute into town everyday around about 05:50-06:00 ,what time does this group leave Table view?
  3. Wish I was there this year ,done four of these events and thoroughly enjoyed each one,but finances don't allow this year
  4. Yes,saw an idiot this morning cycling on Marine Drive "looked like a serous cyclist had all the kit etc cycling in the direction of Cape Town around 06:15 still very dark and there is no yellow emergency lane on that stretch of road but to make matters even worse this chop had no lights crazy.
  5. I agree the price of race entry fees are getting expensive but then again everything seems to be going up in price and when one starts adding associated expenses like the cost of getting to and from the venue pre and post race refreshments it starts getting prohibitively expensive for the average person to afford especially if you take the family along.I used to do plenty of races in a season but no more I will rather pay for a day permit.
  6. I didn't take part in this event but took a ride through from Durbanville to Tweede Tol on Friday left at about 9am and thought I may meet some of those who were doing this event ,didn't see anyone along the route to or on my cycle back to Durbanville ,also Campsite was very quite but still was a beautiful day to be on your bike and to see all the water on the mountains amazing
  7. Did the 80km mtb and the road race only gripes I have is to much gravel road otherwise really enjoyed the st and rough jeep tracks in the forest ,water points were a little disappointing I believe the anchor sponsor pick n pay has pulled out so maybe that explains some of the changes to the event
  8. Interested to find out how people enjoved the road and mtb races, numbers were difinately down from last year and the venue for registration was not suitable although I had no problems registering that went off flawlessly but cannot understand why it was moved from the sports fields just seems bit disjointed
  9. I also cycle against the flow of traffic where it is possible and safe to do so and only if there is an emergency lane or an off road path, makes me feel a lot more comfortable being able to see oncoming vehicles.
  10. I have done a few of these XCO events and would love to take part in the series but cannot justify spending so much on entry fees.
  11. So very sad, thoughts and prayers are with friends and family.
  12. I replaced my rear derailleur shifter housing a while ago with fully enclosed housing and attached cable housing to frame using cable ties ,works great no problems up to this point regarding gear shifting might not look the best but very effective would recommend.I ride a giant carbon xtc29.I would first go this "route"first before starting to drill and remove cable housings.
  13. Hairy where do you guys meat up and what time do you meet ,think I might join if the time is suitable?
  14. Hope the weather plays along this weekend looks a bit dodgy, but really looking forward to getting out of the city
  15. I see this guy was granted R30k bail pending his appeal and that his family is offering R10k for information on what happened in the early hours of the morning on the 7 February surely if he was sober and driving within the legal speed limits he would have been able to give an accurate account of what happened also he would have had ample time to avoid hitting the two cyclist's this just tells me that he was either drunk or distracted by something,I think once again the officials that attended the scene stuffed up there is no good excuse for this incident when you are behind the wheel of a car your focus and attention must be totally on your driving and the road ahead no excuse lock him up.
  16. Morning and what sort of pace do you guys ride at?
  17. Hi how much you wanting for it or are you donating?
