Event Name: Easy Rider MTB Tour When: 24 June 2016 - 26 June 2016 Where: Caladdi Bed & Breakfast, Kwazulu-Natal Category: MTB A relaxed and easy riding MTB tour to the KZN Midlands staying at the beautiful Caladdi Bed & Breakfast situated in Lidgetton (a few kms past Piggly Wiggly’s) This tour was designed for the more recreational rider, the rider who can’t afford an injury and for couples who wish to ride together but never have the chance. The nature of MTB can be very competitive, making it difficult to near impossible for partners to ride together… This tour takes the competitive nature away, the technical riding aspect out of it… leaving time to enjoy the scenery, each other, the comfortable surroundings of the B&B as well as the experience Detour Trails offers. Event Name: The Lesotho Ultimate Challenge When: 12 October 2014 - 18 October 2014 Where: Lesotho, International Category: MTB The 2nd edition of the Lesotho Ultimate Challenge takes place 12-18 October 2014. 6 days... roughly 500kms with 14000m ascent AND 14000m descent... This is a big MTB expedition challenge and not one for the feint hearted! A few route changes see this year's riders heading up Sani Pass once again and then further afield to Katse Dam before dropping down to Semonkong and finally back onto SA soil via Ongelusknek Pass. The field is limited to 20 riders with the necessary experience to navigate themselves along the given tracks. Accommodation varies from basic backpackers to lodges as the trail traverses remote parts of the Lesotho highlands.   3. Event Name: Downstream Dash 83km - 1000 Hills When: 9 August 2014 Where: Valley of 1000 Hills, Kwazulu-Natal Category: MTB The 2nd in the 1000 Hills Expeditions series. The Downstream Dash starts just outside Maritzburg and follows the network of natural trails through the Valley of 1000 Hills, finishing at the eNanda Adventure Centre on Inanda Dam. 83kms with 1330m ascent and 1823m descent... This is the "warm-up" ride to the Big Daddy and will give riders the opportunity to experience proper expedition style riding in the Valley of 1000 Hills. Riders need to form teams of 3 or more and follow a given GPS track all the way to the finish. There will be 1 support station midway on the ride so riders must ensure to carry hydration packs, spares, basic med kit, cash for Spaza shops, etc. The "Mothership" and motorbike support will be in the area for safety and emergency/bail out purposes... Event Name: Big Daddy Dash 115km - 1000 Hills When: 23 August 2014 Where: Valley of 1000 Hills, Kwazulu-Natal Category: MTB The 3rd in the 1000 Hills Expeditions series, the Big Daddy Dash follows the network of natural trails from Pietermaritzburg to Durban through the Valley of 1000 Hills. 115kms with 2000m climbing and 2700m descent... Each rider must form a team of 3 or more and will need to navigate themselves with a given GPS track all the way to Blue Lagoon and the finish at Kingfisher Club! This inaugural non stop ride is a must for anyone looking for an epic one day MTB challenge and a unique chance to experience the beauty of the Valley of 1000 Hills. There will be 2 support stations but riders will have to ensure they carry hydration packs, spares, basic med kits, cash for Spaza shops and the usual gear for any BIG expedition ride... Event Name: The Lesotho Ultimate Challenge When: 25 November 2013 - 30 November 2013 Where: Lesotho, International Category: MTB An expedition race across the Lesotho highlands. 6 days, 500kms, 14 000m ascent... The inaugural event of this nature sees riders taking on the extreme Lesotho altitudes and ascents! Due to this remote region riders will have very little support during the day and will have to navigate trails with GPS coordinates. This is for the purist mountain biker who wants to experience the freedom of riding awesome natural trails and to challenge themselves beyond their usual comfort zone.
