  1. This is the damage to the frame
  2. This is how my bike looks. Do you perhaps know what year model it is? The person at the bike shop said that the bike did not come out with the bulge on the vertical pipe and that it has been repaired before. I have tried to google old Raleigh rds 9.0 bikes and it looks like some of the frames did come out with a bulge in the frame
  3. Same thing happend to my Raleigh. I know it's a massive long shot but do you perhaps know if I can still somewhere get rear triangles?
  4. Phoned the organizers. They couldn't give me an answer yet but it sounds to me like they get companies to sponsor support. Does anyone know? If this is the case that means they don't pay for the stand. So from being a company that supports the 94.7 challenge they become a lucrative business for the day. Sure make a buck on the day but don't put a markup of 300% - 400% on your products. Would like to know how much they charged for a tube. I don't know if all the service stations overcharge to such an extent but if they do instead of warning us against the hot African sun they should warn us against the highly lucrative business on the side that want your money!
  5. The point I am trying to make is not that I was ignorant to leave the required spares at home (which I was), but it is the excessive markup that they put on the items because they know people desperately need it. Just phoned Linden cycles and they charge R14 for a 27 speed chain pin. So Kyalami Pro cycles had +- a 300% markup?! Most of the people that use the stands are new cyclist that didn't prepare properly! If okes overcharge them to such an extent they would lose interest in the sport we all love so dearly! Sure make a profit for standing in the Sun but don't overcharge okes because they are in need!
  6. No a link a pin. I would have been happy to pay that for a link. http://www.cyclesportsuk.co.uk/images/chains/main/Shimano%20Chain%20Pins.jpg
  7. On Sunday 17 November 2013 I road the 94.7 cycle challenge. My chain broke and I required a new chain pin. All my links were still intact, but main chain pin went missing. I stopped at the service station on Bompas where Kyalami pro cycles had a stand. They charged me R40 for a chain pin. I had to take two in case it broke again so I paid R80 for two chain pins. I put the pin in myself. The woman that was working there was running around collecting money. It felt like they were there to make money and not help the cyclists. I am great full for their assistance but think that on big events like this one the organizers should select the assisting stands more carefully.
