Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated, A bit off topic. Looking for a entry level race bike as well. Saw a RC3000 with 9 speed tiagra on it. Worth while bike for R2500? Still looks and rides smooth. Old bike obviously but in my mind would “last longer” than the mtb I bought in term of upgrading the race bike would not be necessary for a argus and burger tour?

Well I saw a few bikes 2nd hand, dual suspension bikes for between R5k and R7k. so I would not want to spend more than that on upgrading my frame.

Hi all, I am looking for some help om my mountain bike. I am a beginner going on intermediate and looking to upgrade or perhaps buy a second hand bigger spec bike. It is a Mongoose switchback expert(sportsmans). It has mechanical discs and 3x8 speed. Atlas shifters, 63mm travel on shocks so all in all a very basic bike. I would like to upgrade the shocks, brakes and drive train. The big question is, do I upgrade and keep the frame or buy second hand? Any help would be great!

Making sure it can handle it would be? Using it and seeing if it breaks? I got this frame for R100, not something I planed. I would not have started this tandem project if it was not cheap.

Hi all, I bought an old tandem frame which I want to build up using a cheap donor bike from Gumtree. Looking for some guidelines as to what type of donor bike would be okay, what type of frame this is and what I should look out for when starting this project? Basically looking for something that me and my wife could go and have some fun on, never know might even do a race or two on it as well. I have attached a picture of the frame. Has the chain that links the two.

Hi all, New to this great forum. Newish to cycling as well. I have entered the Burger and Argus and want to give my mountain bike a good look over before each race but want to do it myself. Just not sure how to set, lube and grease every thing. does anyone have a service or maintenance manual or know where I can get one? Mongoose switchback expert and a Titan Sport Series Cruz. Done some searching on net and here of forum cant find much. Any help would be appreciated!
