  1. Howzit all, Packed my lady's bike away after her ride and while peddling it to the car notice a horrible sound coming from her BB. It's the standard BB on a Merida Juliet 100-D 2013 and after all this riding in the rain I suspect it is on the verge of ceasing. Does anyone of the tech heads know which sealed BB unit will fit in this frame? None of the bike shops can tell me they want me to bring the bike in but at this stage I have no time. Just thought it would be better to upgrade instead of replace. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Can't take back again, too much of a headache without the slip and box. Between one and two grand? Was thinking of Sidi Duran's. What else are guys using?
  3. Hi Ladies and gents, Have to share my my experience with ny lake mx160 shoes. Got my first pair from BIKE BASEMENT and they were great but 150km in the sole started tearing away from the shoe. I took it back and the guys at the shop were great at exchanging them. The new pair was also great and as I started to gain some trust in the brand the exact sane same thing happened. The The rubber literally tears away and hangs loose. I do a lot of technical riding and there are lots of rocks and occasionally I get off to carry the bike in the tricky sections. I've put it down to that being the reason they are tearing. But surely they should withstand this? Opinions anybody? Any other shoe recommendations?
  4. How old are you? What job do you do? When did this start? Can you remember a specific event? What brings on the headache? How often? What medication you on? High blood pressure? X-rays? Might be able to direct you in the right direction. Your problems can be nerve, blood vessel, muscle or joint related so it's kinda key to determine what may be the problem and what specialist you need to see.
  5. Pffffft! Hahahahahaha practice makes perfect!
  6. Howzit guys, I'm in the profession and from an unbiased position Chiropractic is a great alternative to sports injuries and any pain that involves the nervous, muscular and skeletal system. Now obviously I am not saying we treat fractures and that sort of trauma but are definitely able to facilitate a quality and quick healing process. So let me clear up a few things: If you go and purchase a new bicycle and it turns out to be quite shite, do you stop riding? No...you ride it out and where possible you get a new bike and carry on riding. Same thing applies to Chiropractic treatment. This is the general consensus, after 8 treatments if you do not feel improvement then please find another chiropractor to address the problem. Our profession has diversified and on one side we have the guys that are scientifically evidence based and on the opposite side of the spectrum we have more alternative thinking practitioners. We all have our place in the healthcare system. There are ruk-n-pluk doctors out there, I for one am not one and my results are more than adequate. We are not miracle workers, we can't (although it does happen) fix people and give them instant relief. Your body is able to slip out of alignment the moment we are born. Our body will form a pattern to cope with these minor changes and often we start to feel these changes when we grow older and less resilient or when the demands (sport activity) on our body increase. These malalignments and patterns are carried for years and often we have to re-educate the body how to hold itself and move correctly, so in essence give it some time, have sessions until you start to feel good then space them out until you visit the chiro on a monthly/bimonthly basis. I am a young chiropractor trying to change peoples views on Chiropractic because unfortunately our history is somewhat tarnished. I am operating in Morningside and an avid cyclist and so I understand many aspects of riding and injuries associated with riding. I advocate chiropractic treatment for everyone and am happy to answer any questions related to the profession and any injury related questions, email me on mays.jay@gmail.com or book with me, Jaidan on 0117840052/54
  7. Well said! Its great to see a move towards using Chiropractors for injury treatment and prevention. If anyone needs a Chiro contact me, Jaidan on 0117840052/54.
  8. Repetitive strain/overuse injuries are largely due to poor biomechanics which may result from multiple problems. The body is designed to move and will maintain that despite what goes on inside. Our body most often will become injured and then protect itself which alters the movement. I myself am a mountain biker and have got to be dead or dying to stay off my bike and I'm sure most of us are like that too. We train/ride through pain! As mentioned above, Chiropractors are ideal to handle these sorts of imjuries because we assess biomechanically what the tissues of the body are doing and correct it with manual therapies. Give my practice a call on 0117840052/54 and make an appointment with me, Jaidan or email me on mays.jay@gmail.com should you have any questions. I am in Morningside, Sandton and I work SATURDAYS!
