  1. I've been running an Onza Ibex 2.4 on the front of my Trance for a couple of months. Have done maybe 500km with it - nothing drastic. It was a fairly pricey tyre (R850-ish) but I figured it should last a while. This week, I landed a jump slightly badly (little bit heavy on the front on flat ground, no rocks and the tyre basically blew out - made a huge bulge/bubble on the side. Definitely wasn't a pinch or a rim, and my shock didn't even bottom out, so I was a bit surprised that the tyre just died like that. Has anyone here has something like this happen to them? Any view on whether this is a manufacturing defect/warranty replacement or just bad luck (aka *** en betaal)? And other than riding better, anything I can do to prevent this happening again? Worth noting that I'm a fairly heavy guy (90kg)
  2. Recently, while walking in Shady Glen at the top of Oldenland Road, I came across some young guys working on the paths in the green belt. They were all around high school or university age and they were happily building paths and chatting with the passers-by. The area is currently off-limits to cycling (who knows why?) , so I'm making it my personal mission to try and get riding access for the area. The idea of having some sweet trails in my back yard may also play a part: I'm chatting to the city parks folks soon and would like to get some backing for the cause, so if anyone in Somerset West reads, this, give us a punt at: https://www.change.org/p/ward-councellor-stuart-pringle-allow-and-regulate-mountain-biking-in-shady-glen If you ave any advice or suggestions, I'd also be keen to hear them!
