  1. Good point, what would you suggest?
  2. That makes a lot of sense! Thanks. Cash is king Let the saving begin, which will give me enough time to scout for bargains. Just a pity that it would delay my time on 2 wheels.
  3. 2 - 3 year term What are the warranties like on the new bikes?
  4. Lets say 8% higher. What are the benefits of buying new? .. do all new bikes have warranties?

  6. Sounds like a good option
  7. Very helpful stuff! Okay here is the conundrum, I will be financing all this through BikeLife (I think their deals are decent enough) This means, 99% of the gear I purchase will need to be from one store, including the bike.
  8. Thanks, will keep in mind!
  9. Monday is too far.... just kidding, there is actually no rush and I prefer doing my homework first. I would like a new bike, should I bump overall budget to R20k then?
  10. Good point and I can see how the extras can account for large part of the budget. I am talking this approach so that I dont throw all the funds into a bike and then get stuck without funds to get some of the other important items.
  11. I was under the impression that I could get away with R10k on the bike and then R5k on the extra important items.
  12. That is why I created this post
  13. Yes
  14. Thanks for the info! Is R15k enough? What should I budget for all these various items?
  15. Hi folks, Nice to join this great forum! I am planning to purchase some gear for MTB'ing. With a budget of R15 000 in total, what should I be walking out of the LBS with (without needing to purchase anything more for a while) Of the top of my head: - Bike - Helmut - Tools - Bottle - ? - ? Definitely going to need help here :-) Gary
