  5. Yes. Adjusting the cleats to the correct fore/aft position as well as cleat angle is hugely important and can make a massive difference to a bike fitment. It can go a long way to reducing injury risk as well as improve efficiency.
  6. The fitment prediction does not currently automatically adjust that, as the majority of riders go for marathon specific set ups.. Trail would use a similar setback value as marathon also. For XC we usually recommend that our certified fitters move the saddle 1-2cm further forward that the saddle setback prediction for more explosiveness which is needed in XC racing.
  7. Great question! If you increase your training volume or flexibility, your bike fitment could well change and things like saddle height and saddle setback might change slightly. The converse is true if you start riding less; you might end up needing a less aggressive position on the bike. Bike fitment is something that will be continually evolving as your riding habits change, so if your riding patterns have changed dramatically since your last fit it is definitely worth having it re-looked at.

  10. Here is some light afternoon reading on ErgoFit, well worth two minutes! Some key points on the difference between ErgoFiT and BG FiT, the two mostly widely used systems: ErgoFiT is a 2 step process. The first is a predictive report based on 8 years worth of data on over 3000 individuals and an advance regression analysis of key variables that affect fit (not averages).These include age, sex, training history, training volume, flexibility and the standard static measurements. There is no other system anywhere in the World that is even close to ErgoFiT's accuracy in predicting fit. BG fit does not have a predictive component. The second step to ErgoFiT (dynamic component) is similar to BG Fit. However, where BG fit relies on subjective interpretation and the experience and expertise of the fitter, ErgoFiT removes subjectivity and uses defined reference ranges. The ErgoFiT includes foot alignment and varus / valgus correction. It also incorporates a key variable that BG fit ignores - Hip angle. ErgoFiT allows for accurate fitting which largely removes the experience level of the fitter, allowing stores to provide a superior fitting without necessarily going through a complex learning process. In addition, ErgoFiT uses training volume and history to determine saddle setback, rather than the widely used plumbline method which would result in the same setback position for a "newbie" or an elite professional of 20yrs (providing stature and femur length are the same). A method that has absolutely no scientific merit whatsoever. Some more points: ErgoFiT uses a dual process fitting that incorporates both a predictive report and a dynamic fitting (on the bike). Why is the predictive system so important? 1) Without a predetermined set of parameters it is not possible to determine the correct frame size. An incorrect frame size can be manipulated to create the impression that the bike fits but there will be consequences such as compromised handling or sub-optimal muscle recruitment patterns: e.g. a frame that is too large can be adjusted to fit a rider by shortening the stem and moving the saddle further forward. However, this will result in understeer and the possibility that the front wheel will slide out in sharp turns or in wet conditions. In addition, it will result in over recruitment of the quadriceps, placing them at risk of premature fatigue. 2) The predictive report establishes the correct ratio for saddle height vs. saddle setback and ratio for handlebar reach vs drop. These ratios are based on data in the system from over 4000 fittings conducted in a laboratory setting. To elaborate on this: e.g. Take the example of two twins. One who rides on a professional team and the other who has never ridden a bicycle. Based on a dynamic fitting only, they would be placed in the same setup. Their saddle setback based on using a plumb-line would be identical. Yet it is patently clear that the professional riding twin would require more saddle setback to recruit the gluteals to a greater extent and would require a higher saddle height (due to greater neuro-muscular efficiency) as well as greater reach and drop. Using a dynamic fitting process would not provide insight into these values. ErgoFiT's predictive report provides reference values to establish these ratios, which are then refined in the dynamic fit. The report there-fore provides a valuable starting point rather than simply using guesswork or very inaccurate formula's to establish frame size, saddle height, reach, drop and other important parameters. Why is the dynamic fitting process better with ErgoFiT? 1) ErgoFit uses defined reference ranges for all important joint angles, rather than only measuring the knee flexion angle (as per most dynamic fittings). These reference ranges are based on sound scientific research conducted at a leading University and to be published during 2014 and 2015. 2) With the introduction of the digital dynamic measuring system in June 2014, the ErgoFiT dynamic fitting process will be more accurate than any manual measurements, providing a fast, accurate and fool proof fitting technique for all users.   13. Hi guys, SI stands for Sacroiliac. A quick Google will show some picture of what it is exactly. SI stands for Sacroiliac, which is a joint just above your pelvis. To decrease your the stress on your lower back while riding the drops we would either suggest stretching on a regular basis to improve flexibility at your pelvis, or by raising your handlebars slightly so that you are not under so much stress while in the drops.
