    @MadScientist, The problem is that in either case someone is prejudiced. Unless there is a fair trade of goods, (my recommendation a very public place) hand to hand, one party is compromised, even if you know the person. Trust is something that is gained over a period not just dished out because you're desperate.

I've asked to see a picture of the bike and for it's specifications... Remember this is for a new 2013 CANNONDALE SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 2 R22,000. What a bargain! Retail price R53500 Yes, Yes, exchange product for cash only!

This bike was previously seen on ebay.com Great tip from Gandalf "If you have google chrome, have the picure open in google chrome, right click on the picture and "search google for this image" you will find posts and pictures related to that picture, you will be able to see where else the user has posted the ad or if the picture was just pulled off the net. Same applies for users provided details, a google search will show all related to it.

    Have you spoken to him yet, Guys name is most probably Solomon. Tells you that all business arrangements are based on trust. Brilliant! I spoke to them 3 times last week, all different ads. I tried my best to string him along. 3 or 4 people, I heard of, even drove to Swellendam chasing just one of his brilliant offers. He must be killing it!

Or just google for similar images. If you spot similar images ask for more photo's and be specific about something odd you want to see.

I have tried to contact the current user via contact number, same as the previous too, no facility to leave a message and no response to my e-mail on either the Vottle or Junk Mail. there may be one Valid offer here but surely not all of them?

    I've been so furious regarding a second hand on-line purchase I was trying to make and finding out it was a fraud, that I've been trolling as best I can between my day job to find some more. Please don't post unless you are 100% sure. and please give reason for why you think it's a FAKE AD, to warn off others. The 4 I've found to follow.....

    How do you double check something in Swellendam when you live in JHB. He even had additional photo's on request. The give away to me was that he was so demanding about a deposit. He said "all business deals must be based on trust", and that is just not true. The majority of business deals are based on a contract or at least protected by law or possibly even risk to reputation. I am still so fired up about this, there must be something more one can do?

Is there no such thing as a good, honest, hard working crook anymore? The least they could do is proof-read the advert that they are stealing off Craigslist or eBay in Canada before posting here?     All I had done was book a provisional air ticket and had made a car rental booking. Fortunately I could cancel both. I had even drawn the cash to take with me. So in all I lost out on some bank charges. My wife on the other hand was completely committed to the purchase and wanted to make upfront payment. Has another angle of the same bike, even has the same tag on it and you can see the snow far more clearly (I found it on goggle images).
