  1. Look 695 bought! Flip'n love it! Thanks for all the advice. Much appreciated.
  2. I wonder why the longer distance riders were that much quicker than the 80km winners? Comparing like for like, the average speed of AL compared to AM was approx 3km/h faster. Either their were more stronger riders in AL, or the extra 26km loop was fast, or there were more riders willing to work upfront in AL? I rode in AM where there were about 8 of us who worked at the front. The bunch then broke up on Hekpoort. Thanks to the two gents who worked with me to hold our lead. They were close to catching us! But great ride all round.
  3. I have narrowed the decision down. I will make a final decision this week / weekend and will let you all know the outcome thanks for all the advice! much appreciated
  4. Thanks. Looks like a great bike. But not my "top of the list."
  5. Agree fully. I get that feeling with the Venge and Bianchi... It is always useful to gather opinions from others and those shared on this forum are confirming my original urges of Specialized or Bianchi
  6. Same answer as I made to the Cannondale
  7. No disrespect to Cannondale, they too have some amazing bikes! But Cannondale and other great bikes like Giant, Focus, Fondriest, Trek etc have never been my "I want one" bike... So now that I can splash out a bit, I'd like to go with one that i'm passionate about, namely Cervelo, Specialized, Bianchi, Pinarello and Look.
  8. I guess I have gone for the brands I know and prefer. Eddy Merkx and Da Rosa have some great bikes but as you say, the list becomes long unless you narrow it down. If you could list the niche manufactures, i will certainly consider it... thanks!
  9. Indeed, 2nd hand is certainly good value when the right deal comes around... Had a look at the Bianchi Oltre listed in the classified which was a thorough bread racing machine! Concerned about the maintenance cost of the Campy SR EPS groupset. But a lovely bike... Leaning towards the Venge But a bit concerned about the 60mm deep sections with the wind. Thanks for your comments
  10. Upgrading from my Cervelo R3, it's listed in the classifieds
