  1. So a couple of years back, about 3/4 of our group started their descent down chappies, noordhoek side, about 20 seconds before me. I having always considered myself to be an above average descender and hit the drops to catch them. At that very corner I could feel I was carrying to much speed and started to break before the corner causing my back wheel to lock. Handsfull of front and back brakes and panic all over my being, I release and braked, release and braked causing the bike to stop skidding but still hurtling towards the edge. I leant into the corner and heard someone shout that I must 'jump off' the bike. In the turn and me in a broadslide position my back tire came off the rim. How I managed to stay on the bike, let alone keep it upright was a miracle and by miracle, I mean in the biblical sense???????????? The bike and I came to a stand still up against the wall as if placed there for a photo shoot. Called the wife to fetch me as I could not repair the back wheel, at least that's what I told the guys which was a lie. Truth is I was to traumatized to get back on and not even 2 goo's had enough sugar to calm the nerves. Now when passing that bend I always give thanks for being able to ride my bike and have always wondered how many other cyclist have had close experiences on that bend. Clearly I'm not alone.
  2. Congratulations. The art decor look never really appealed to me but this one surely is a head turner. Very, very beautiful. May it's owner have many safe rides on it.
  3. Do you suggest that I should buy the parts as they present themselves on the hub? Would this not be more expensive than buying a complete groupset? I'm in not in a hurry and will be able keen to buy the parts loose depending on the cost.
  4. fingers crossed.
  5. Was also partial to your thinking, maybe that second kidney needs to go.
  6. Thanks DJR. I'm praying that my fellow hubbers has the good fortune of upgrading to the new 12 speed campag groupset. And then maybe pass on a outdated 2015 to present super record groupset. Please keep me posted should anyone come across such an ad on the hub.
  7. Thanks for the encouragement. I managed to get a buyer for that kidney and will be able to drop 12k on a campagnolo groupset. Kindly bear in mind that I'm planning to put it on my c60, older record or newer chorus?
  8. Evening all. My current ride is a colnago c60 with a shimano ultegra 11 speed groupset. Does anyone have suggestions how I can go about fitting a campagnolo groupset on it without selling both my kidneys.I'm so desperate for this upgrade, I've already maxed out my data scouring the Internet and we are on an unlimited package.
  9. Ok, had the same experience with the merckx, feels a bit lifeless under me. Enjoy it as a commuter though and thought that maybe the bikes of those era share similar characteristics.
  10. Hi guys, I have an older eddy merckx as per my profile pic and was curious to know how the colnago's of that era rides.
  11. Not at all. Friendly banter.????????
  12. Duly noted.
  13. Was cringing when I posted those pics. I know it is sacrilege to have a shimano groupset on a Colnago and in hindsight should have posted a warning to the forum. Rookie mistake and will not happen again. As for the Most bars I will not apologize. I bought the C60 from a fellow hubber and had intentions to replace them before taking possession but after just one ride found them to be amazing. I'm convinced that Pinarello owners makes the mistake of crediting the bike with it's smooth ride and overlooking the quality of these bars.
  14. Nothing bought for your colnago can ever be termed "unnecessary".???? Congratulations on the purchase looks really good.
