  1. @ChrisFHaven't used Wahoo after sales support other than to replace a HR strap, which was easy and quick. @Rowl yup, I get that. It's silly that these things get in the way and distract from the real task at hand. My time on the bike is precious and wasting time on tech that's trying to do fancy stuff but cannot get the basics right is a red flag for me. I'll go with what serves me. A company spending millions on developing the newest metric, which actually only applies to a few world tour pros but at the same time takes 3 weeks to tell me that they don't want to replace my battery and it'll cost at least R2500 to 'fix the problem'... yeah sorry I'll take my money elsewhere.
  2. Here's my Garmin experience and conclusion for the archives. I'm not touching another Garmin device. The whole 'no repairs / swap out the device when its under warranty' approach leads to a disgusting constellation of problems that in 2025 don't need to exist. And this goes for both the in and out of warranty issues. Who the hell has to sit without their device for weeks to then be told the battery is dead and the only option is to fork out R2500 (in this case for a FR55 watch battery)? Reminds me of those Chevvy or Chrysler cars where they had to take the engine block out to replace the car's battery. Backwards. My Wahoo experience by comparison is great. Also the hardware and software have been way better than Garmin for a good few years because they get the basics and everyday stuff right. I look at how others get all hung up with changing settings or navigation on the Garmins whereas I am making changes on the fly. And they know it but some are too attached to their Discovery points to realise its costing them not just money to be in the Garmin stable 🤣
  3. I've tried that exact route every now and again over the years, except of course turning onto Voortrekker once in Maitland and I don't think it is a viable alternative. Especially in the early hours. Road surface also very bad in sections and full of debry. Don't want to be fixing a puncture at 6.30am in Maitland. If I do a peninsula loop and come back via southern suburbs then I take Alexandra road past Vincent Pallotti and then Maitland, Koeberg interchange. By that time its busy enough to feel alot less dodge.
  4. Does anyone know what was going on at the infamous N1 camp between Paarden Eiland and Woodstock / Lower Church street bridges about 2 weekends ago? Saw about 6 SAPS and LE or Metro vehicles parked alongside the camp on the N1 and it looks like they were very busy but can't find any information on that. Has that been cleared out? It really grates my gears that I can't get into town safely anymore. 15 years of watching this infrastructure slowly crumble. I've logged C3s to no end for bike and general NMT issues for the last 8 years between Woodstock and Melkbos but it doesn't help. Here and there they attend to minor issues but they clearly have no intention to spend money on maintaining this infrastructure.
  5. Thanks for the replies guys! I have no idea how I missed these - need to take a look at my notification settings. Disappointing that there is no stock or willingness from the distributor to get in or assist.
  6. Howdy, I'm looking for a Cannondale 5mm Top Cap. Part Number KP253. This replaces the conical headset topcap, which as beautiful as it is makes things a little too tall in the stack height department. https://www.cannondalespares.com/Cannondale-Road-Headset-5mm-Top-Bearing-Cover--KP253/product_detail/3-40270 Nobody stocks it. I've tried numerous Cannondale dealers and Omnico. There was one for sale on the Hub 3 years ago 😅 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/stems/4104/cannondale-5mm-top-plate-cap Anyone have one lying around? I am a willing buyer!
  7. Hiya! I'd greatly appreciate recommendations for a good coffee stop on our ride through Malmesbury on Friday morning.
  8. What kind of rear shock is on that Mercedes bike in photo 2? Looks like an interesting contraption!
