  2. Hi Droo thanks for that, just what i needed to hear. Not planing to replace the stanchions. will look for a new or good condition 2nd hand fork and CTD is the fork i have. i will service the fork now and see how far i get before it will completely be junk, Cant keep replacing seals now all the time, not worth the expense I will see if i can pop in to buy some of those sachets. can keep a few in my tool box, I have a proper workshop at work where i service my bike, all the tools i do have thanks for the advice
  3. cool will check them out on line. yea now that i know how to service the fork my self, i will do it more often, I use the Belray brand oil. works just as good, only thing i need now id the fox float Fluid, but seen someone say one can use 85w140 oil. but i need to check up on that
  4. had a service about a year ago.. guess i will have to look after them extra careful. did use a pressure washer once or so, but now i hand wash. this was the first time i serviced my fork my self, the rest was Bike shops. There is only Oil in the fork and no grease, the crud is a mixture of oil and dirt,
  5. Yes i dont see why I will repaif this. thanks for all the feedback.it has the origianl fox oil in. Althouth i service the bike. Did not do so for the fork. It had play in the stanchions from the day i had the bike. Then took it in for warrenty repair and went downhill from there on. I will ride it till no more. And will invest in a new one. The only question is . Will it be fox or rockshox
  6. So i have a Question for the Suspension Guru's This is now the second time i came across this occurrence; I am busy servicing my bike and saw this on my fork (photos below). But notice its only on the Left hand side, (air side). So the stanchions are damage as well as the casing, in which the stanchions float in, Can anyone tell me why this will happen? I clean my bike often as well as use Bronx shock lube. Also is there a way to fix this and repair? Or will I have to replace the fork down the line
  7. Alan D. As long as the bearing sizes remain the same. Sure it would work on any bike. Although its designed for Gaint. I had a friend turn me So dollys from nylon to push out the bearings and have a Carbon cup that wont scratch the frames. Tools on the web is craze exspensive. Maybe we can source some second hand in SA.
  8. Hi bomberman. The dust seals were removed to show the exstend of where dirt will go in. And you can see the 2 types of bearings. Keep me posted on how those bearings hold up
  9. JJACK From what i understand is that the more Balls in the bearing the the better load it can take. they say its for better oscillation, as pivot bearings only Pivot a small about, the balls take a greater load at a very small point.,and yes they do have harder metal ratings on the balls, I have see some of the bearings bike shops supply, yes some do supply the enduro brand and then you get some that don't, the cheaper bearing might not last as long, but if you keep your bike clean, I am sure the will live up to the standard, they bearings i replaced was not damage by use, but by dirt inside of the bearing, so yes some might have a dual lip seal ,which will help. but in reality its the way you look after your bike. as for wheel bearings and BB bearings ect , these turn the way the bearings are designed to turn. but still i wont go to to cheap on this.as you need a good quality bearing, but don't have to be ripped off by the shops.
  10. I recently did a bike service for one of my friends. The Bike was due for major service and had to take the whole dual apart, the Bearings was the worst off in the bike, and a expensive exercise if you have to get them replaced. So I did some research and phoned a few bike shops around the Grater Cape Town area. i could not get away for under R 1000 for a replacement set, which just adds up the $$$$ if there are more parts to replace. I then searched the Bearing numbers and found the same bearings for a whole lot less and that fits my Pocket, So do Bike shops really make such a big Markup on the stock they sell to us and do we really need to spend that amount on bearings if you can buy the same set online for less. i have attached some photos of the original bearings that came out of the frame.
  11. let me find out for you on Monday
