  1. dont know if it ever sold, but https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/264446-on-one-inbred
  2. you see this is where the whole geometry and bike feel comes in, as well as how other components make a bike feel. 182cm in height and on that dee dar, I have 780 bars with a 40mm stem. now this is where things change. i had a 160mm fork and riding it like that it felt a little cramped as well, but i also felt like the handle bars where under my stomach and chest was over the front wheel a little due to the steepness on the frame. dropping the fork to 140mm made a huge difference in my body position i felt more at home on the bike straight away. (then again i did ride a bmx all the way through high school so im used to a smaller bike) the thing to take away from this is one) ride a bike that you feel fits you well. sizes and geometry are just there as a guide to what might be best for you(especially if you have a bike already) and two) small changes in stem bar width and fork height can make the world of difference to the way a bike feels. PS. i had a medium STP that was to small for me, but a medium trance is perfect with a 60mm stem and 760mm bars on a 130mm fork. even though the dee dar has longer top tube with the taller fork and short stem the cockpit feels the same on both bikes.
  3. The dee dar that i bought from hellocolour is the only one i have seen is SA so far. best is look for a bike with the same(or close as possible) geometry as the dee dar large and test ride/fit that. even if its ali. you are just looking for sizing before ordering
  4. Xfussion sweep 160mm fork; XT brakes and derailleur with a 1x9, Zee cranks with 32 tooth narrow wide, rapide 45mm stem with 780mm bars, 180mm front rotor and 160 rear, not sure of the rims but 30mm internal width.
  5. Wheres the Jar of tears?
  6. Just finished this beauty yesterday.
  7. any one know if they have started this yet?
  8. Got the bike back yesterday. fork feels so good. they replaced the seals for me as part of the original sale. if this is the service they give huge props to Mikes bikes. wish car mechs did the same.... i will be shopping there in the future.
  9. So went past mikes bikes yesterday. he agreed to let me have a test ride on the fork. he dropped it down to 100mm travel for me fitted it to my bike. and i locked it out and took it for a sprint up the road. and wow. its light and solid. i can pump in a hard gear and go somewhere. its was great. so i got them the housing it a Fox talas but the internals are the same as a float. so its an air preload. with compression adjustment, rebound adjustment and the lock adjustment. i was playing with the rebound adjustment to see how i wanted it and turned it all the way to the + and held brakes and pressed down. the fork did come back up. 2 click toward - and they came up. when for a 2meter ride and hear "pop pssssst". On the air side the seal on the fork had popped off. im going to take it back to find what the story is but yeah...
  10. i know, i want the lock for when im say ride the bike from my place and a road to her place or similar. when i stand and start to pump to power up the hills all my power goes into the bounce and i lose forward momentum. it kills me no matter what gear im in. plus im so used to single speed the gear thing only helps on really steep hills.
  11. I got a Giant STP. not sure of the post diameter. the current post is only 30.9mm on and i beam so i might have to change my seat to. I have been thinking about a drop post but they seem a little pricey for me right now. i really like the post on the yeti though
  12. So as i have said in my welcome post and my fork advise post, my GF has a MTB bike and we want to ride places like Northern farms and other trails. so one of the things im looking for is a taller seat post. a few bike shops have told me "its not worth it, no one does that, i bought the wrong bike, i should have got a MTB". but im still think tall seat post will allow me to ride trails. after a bit of searching i found i few ideas of what im looking for. what you guys think?
  13. So I got a Giant stp this past weekend. one of the things i looking to do is to sort ride trails(northern farms, PWC park) as well as be able to just the bike. having been on a 20" since starting high school most 27.5 or 29ers seemed massive. so when i saw the 26" DJer i grabbed it. been told it a very good frame. any way took it for a ride on sunday around emmerintia dam on the trails there and 1st thing that i hated and was warned about was the fork. with no lockout hill climbing is a pain in the a**. lose all your power bouncing on the fork. so i have been looking for forks. something with lockout that i can jump. went past a bike shop today and was chatting to a guy there that said that he has a fox fork that should handle it. its what he called a franken fork. its made from bits and pieces. it 140mm travel with can be dropped to 100mm, air preload(i think) with lockout. it seems to meet my requirements. he said price 2k till the end of tomorrow other wise he will use them on another bike. advice? PS currently thbike has the stock DJ 3's
