  1. I am feeling a bit sorry for myself.

I have to go for a mitral valve repair (NOT replacement) op in a few months time. Done a few IM and I still enjoy doing the shorter triathlons and cycling in particular. I was hoping to put this op off for as long as possible but I fear its is time. HR going over 185 on a 750m swim 155 -175 on the bike and I wont mention the numbers on the run. BTW I am 49.

I know I will not be doing much for 6 weeks after the op but I would just like to hear from anybody that has had a similar op as to how long it took them to be up and running again. I don't expect to be near the front of the pack, I would just like to keep them in sight.

  2. I have small holes in my suit after just about every tri. I just take it to the local trishoppe, in PE that would be Triangle sports and they fix it for me, takes about 10 min and it cost just about nothing. If there is no such place close to you try a diveshop.

  3. I am in PE, I do not think I know of anybody here that can replace a tube as it is full of holes. maybe I should stock up on some dental floss, take embroidery classes and who knows, on the next rainy day,fix the thing myself.

  4. During a race today, I failed to spot some glass on the road and heard the dreaded PSSSSSSST sound shortly there after. Tubbie is ISM. So I wonder if there is a place on SA that will replace the tube in a tubbie.

  5. Hi

Just wondering, what would be the optimal fluid to clean a chain with when using one of those all in one chaincleaners. The type that comes in two parts with brushes and cogs inside. Paraffin? and what oil to use after? I have seen types of snakeoil sold at the LBS at ridiculous prices. Would W40 not do just as good a job. Still a noobie with bike maintainance and I just had to fork out quite a bit for a new Durace chain so I would like to keep this one in good nick for as long as posible

  6. NOOO WAAAYY!! golf is the most dangerous game in the world. Played it once in my life, never again. halfway trough the back 9 rain and thunder, lots of people got sick from that. Once chap still has a scar when somebody klapped him on the backswing with a club.

No thanks, I will rather doge taxis in rush hour traffic.
