Post will have a marking on it for minimum insertion length. IMO 20cm is plenty. Previous owner's riding with it further out might have made the initial crack, not you. In my ignorance I had a seatpost that was too far out. Luckily I bent the post before I cracked the frame. Although, I'm thinking a seatpost cause will make it crack down the tube following the clamp slit? This looks like the top tube weld?

So, I visited the very fair Cape Town and surrounds from Pta, taking the bike along. I kuiered very lekker with my brother, having not seen hom in six months, so my planned rides to Tokai and the like didn't happen. I did, however, did a return from Houtbaai to Signal Hill. Man, the climbing and wind was proper. The views, however, of the beautiful sea, Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain from the top of Signal hill made up for that. I'm used to, whether training or commuting in Pta and Jhb, to wave at other cyclists, and 99.9% I get a wave back. On my 40km odd ride, of the 50 or so other cyclists I saw and waved at, only one elderly gentleman gave me a nod. I'm not trying to ruffle tail feathers, I'm just wondering, but what's up with that? Are you only worried about dropping your R60k Spez roadie?

First: N+1 Second: Absolutely depends on the route. If you stay in the city, only flat tarmac, I would go rigid mtb with road tyres. Lighter bike, but can take a bit of curb-hopping. If there are a few hills around, I'll go geared, but still rigid.

My very first time riding cleats, I decided to brave Big Red Barn... alone... Got on, fell over. Should have gotten back into the car... Anyway, I stopped counting how many times I fell on that ride, but the funniest/worst was getting to the top of a steep table top. It's on a section I don't normally ride. Got to the top, and was just congratulating myself, unclipped left (YES!!!), fell over to the right (#$@!!). Rolled onto my back, right foot still clipped, and the wheels get caught in the branches of the Wattle tree. Bike not budging, can't unclip, lying on my back with the bike on top, head pointing down the slope. WTF do I do now??

My first "Winter Fast One" race, was barrelling down the flat jeep track. Spectacular OTB. ensues. Just had time to look up from the long grass on the side and see my bike doing its second front flip, before doing a solid flat landing on the saddle. Asked (very loudly) "WTF did just happen??" to the very amused riders around me. Saddle moertoe, spent 20 minutes trying to bend the rails more or less back into shape, ended up standing and pedaling most of the way to the finish. No scars on me, but new saddle and handlebars. Went back to where I think I should have gone wrong, but really no idea what I hit (or what hit back).

This is passing any vehicle travelling in the same direction as you, not just vehicles turning right. 6.45 OVERTAKING / PASSING The driver/rider of a vehicle intending to pass any other vehicle proceeding in the same direction on a public road shall pass to the right thereof at a safe distance and shall not again drive on the left side of the roadway until safely clear of the vehicle so passed. Dink nie so nie. You are going to miss 4 spokes. How do you decide which spokes must miss out? Tension needs to be the same all round.

I have Shimano M355 on my Silverback, pretty much bomb-proof. Have done a few OTB's when I started out on them Reviews on the M315 are very good. R1K for new brakes is awesome. Noise on the Elixirs should only come from the pad/rotor combination ? (correct me if I wrong). Could be sorted with resin pads? Can't comment on trustworthiness.
